The guy said to watch the movie only cause in a scene they also say that they don't believe b-boyin came from capoeira. It has very close ties but the moves are only similar by chance. As someone with family from Brazil i gotta tell you that in the 70's there were little to no brazilians in NYC. Brazilian are a very small population even today in NYC. What I'm saying is that although it is amazing how it has its similarities (b-boyin has similarities to almost any form of dance, and that's what Capoeira really is- a dance) but to say B-Boys in the 70's, 80's and even early 90's were influenced by capoeira is very very improbable. Especially considering even today there are people that think brazil's national language is spanish. However that clip you showed was awesome.

I knew that they did flips and kicks, but hollows and headspins? Hell, I've saw one of the africans do a clean pike. Nice vid mikey.

Edit:
This one kid I know said capoeira came from bboying (he said he knows people who capoeira). I thought he lost his mind or he's retarded. Note: he "used to breakdance" and doesn't know what it means to be a bboy.

xixinho's definitely correct. The first school in america was opened up by Jelon Vieira in 1975. By that time, B-boying had already gone through it's first period of popularity and was considered a "dead" dance. B-boying didn't really see any direct influence from capoeira until the late 90s/early 2000s with Circle of Fire.
