i am asking these's questions to also learn from you guy's the community on hiphop
issues that concern us few friends of mine pointed that out bcuz today when bboys practice they all dance to the breaks but soon as gang star or epmd das efx they just freeze up there minds go into complete freeze true dancers could keep dancing even if you put on spanish music & make it look good i just wanna hear your input do you prefer break beats over hiphop music not rap but hiphop hooooray!

i can break to them. but hell, i can break to anything. lol
some bboys like to hear the real hype songs, so they feel as if they have more energy.

i grew up on real hip hop when i wuz a shorty myself it wuz just something i seen
walking around my neighborhood kids were digging in the trash cans pulling out card board taping it with duck tape so it want fall apart it wuz like my first love for anything i never let all the lil other trends come up & replace "breaking" there hasn't been a dance i seen that really impress me & stook around like b-boyizm
there no feeling like seeing somebody in your face calling you out it's rush specially when your name is on the line "nas" in that cd talk about hiphop the way it wuz brought up with bomber jackets & puma's with fat laces & beat street breakers i got the chill listen to the cd.. anyways never give up stick with it like your married to it "hiphop" breaking " bboying comes along with it hand & hand you can't have bboys with out hip-hop i herd some of the most crazyest stories

let me share this with you i will shut up at one time when bow weezey lil bow "wow" first came out he wuz harlem shaken with lil romeo my cousin wuz like man this is the hottest dance ice..i looked at him and laugh bcuz i knew it wuz going no where! so they wanted to battle my lil cousin the harlem shaker$$$$$
i went & join in and help put things back to order & guess what they told me after the smoke show wuz over???? black people dont break that's mexican dance & then some other lil shorty said dont play that africa bambattaa sh@#$! i could of slap his momma with answer like that peace!

i think the reason they dont is becuz even though they might have been breaking for 15+ years they are still inexpereienced dancers. alot of them haven't gotten out there and tried other dances, i had to stop breaking cuz i messed up my rotator cuff and i'll have to have surgery if i dont stop. but neways i got hook up with a dance company recently and they do EVERY kind of dance u can think of, and i noticed that NOW my style is soooo much better then before, and i can dance to anything. so i think its becuz they arent "experienced" as well as they could be.

^Thanx to Kunoichi Sakura for that one.

yeah that sounds about right the exprience that comes with your dancing
but dancing to everything will make you the most un-stopable bboy like one of the greatest like "machine" if i had to say one guy i knew that could dance to everything with his eyes closed would be machine "zulu kingz"

I think a lot of bboys only focus on break beats like you said and that's the whole problem they gain tunnel vision in a sense. It's like they associate only one genre of music with bboyin. Sort of like how classical music goes hand in hand with ballet. So when you put on something like mainstream hip hop for them to get down 2, it's foreign to them. Your ear has to get trained to music and a lot dont train their ears to different genres, so when a different style of music comes on they cant follow the beats.

That's wack if you can't Bboy to Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop gave life to Bboying in effect.

that's another good answer is that your not trained to dance to other music
i think that places major roll in when dee jay's spin hiphop record like "redman"
or something it seem energy level kinda slows down somebody else mention if you can't dance to hiphop why are your bboying for is the truth like i never herd it
much respect for the answer's i am learning more everyday from you guy's rock on!
