I went to that jam cuz Chibi told me about it and I saw there were 1v1s and I really wanted to enter something (1v1s are AMAZINGLY rare in these parts... 2v2 3v3 5v5 crew v crew are the common formats and I have no partner no crew for the time being). Because of that battle I met Dat Nguyen (The guy I was battling against) who is now a close friend and kind of like my breaking coach/mentor. (Plus hilarious as all hell as are the rest of the guys from Calamity! Hahaha)

Dat is who I've been travelling with and the single strongest positive influence in my breaking... so if you trace it all the way back none of that would have happened if I hadn't entered the 1v1 that day...

Therefore I'm going to revise what Slip said a bit, enter everything you can to gain experience confidence ect. Try your damndest to win every battle, but don't put your entire happiness on it, sometimes battling has more important and positive outcomes than winning!

Hey Madd, that means you practice with Lancer too?

I've never sessioned with Lancer, but I've crashed at his apt. carried his little brother around Berkeley on my back, sat in his corner raving like a madman, been utterly smoked by him and driven 9hours from nocal to socal with him. Also he was there pickin that rock steady's head with me at dinner in Marysville, but he's never been to the CROC practices I go to with Dat. I'm not sure when/where Calamities crew practices are, I usually can only come on weekends for regular practices due to living 90miles away so when I hit SD I usually practice @ the CROC and then head off to the jam (if one is occurring) later in the day.

While we're talking about Lancer and Eranettik I wanna share some hilarious footage with ya'll... hands down funniest thing I ever saw in a battle. Keep your eye on Christie in the back munching on some delicious Pinay food (Provided by Mixedwell)

a wise person once said "There is only one lesson in victory, but a thousand in defeat." you probably learned them all by now...

There's an age old saying. It's beautiful, illuminating, and concise. "Fiat Lux". It's Latin. It means "Let there be light."

by the way, when u do start winning, it's not nice to say "suck it" considering u felt that same way too. i'm not saying u would do that, i'm just saying if the thought comes up...ignore it.
