I've been reading a lot of threads saying bboy physicx not even a fav bboy because he's too power oriented. I think powermoving is a bit underrated these days by non-beginner bboys, because it is a legit aspect of bboying. Honestly, a crew would be boring if it didn't have a single power mover.
I think physicx (at least from 2001-2006) is one of the best bboys ever because his moves are non-standard power moves. he invented a lot of singnature moves and also mastered some of the most difficult fundamental powermoves. I admit that his toprock is abit weak, but eveyrthing else, he's like a legend. he won boty solo 2004, beating hong10, his clips in the uk bboy 2002 competition are amazing. i honestly think him losing in the first round of redbull bc one 2005 contributed to his underrated-ness (relatively speaking; like obviously no one thinks he sucks). im not trying to be dickrider, but this guy, honestly, I think is better than hong10. thoughts?

the only reason physicx lost in the first round of redbull bc one 2005 is because they had that "you have 30 seconds left" thing instead of having just 3 rounds so Physicx rushed his last set and got cut off at the end...but yeah physicx is an awesome bboy but I like Hong 10 more :P

i agree with u man, no matter how long i go in this bboying path physicx will always be my idol first and formost... but better then hong10 i cant give a honest answer because i just recently saw hong10 and that dood is always getting more beastly... i honestly want physicx to be better but hong10 is cleaness over him nowadays and hong10... is just... so.... underrated... if appropriate, i think atm hes playing everyones shadow but he will soon beast the compition to the next lvl

hong10 is more legendary in korea. the reason is simple: HE FUCKIN REPPIN. he repped at BOTY 2002, fucking UK bboy champs winner, fucking red bull bc one winner, it goes on and one...these are mighty accolades. he's legendary like how Lilou is legendary in france, cuz those guys have taken out cats in every country, so when it comes to national pride in bboying, those guys are top. when you watch hong10, you can tell how much his style has influenced korean bboying since 2002. he took dancing on your hands/head to a new level.

physicz ALSO took that shit to a new level, but that level was too high for others to imitate. that's why his style used to stand out. he was way different from a lot of what was going on at the time in korea.

These days, i feel like they're just old school korean cats now. respected, but not longer pioneering. a lot of youthful new korean shit is coming out, the new pioneers.

Hong 10 appeases to many because he oozed with style and creativity, that was why. The reason why he was not a favorite during that time was because he was mostly power based. While hong 10 wasn't, he had power, but he had a decent toprock and killer footwork and floor work. So I would say the reason why hong 10 has a bigger fan base here in the US is because he closer exhibit what we attempt to achieve in bboyin, which is to be a all around great bboy, not a great bboy in one aspect of the game.

That's why a majority of the top names out there that are american base are usually all around good bboys. Ronnie, Machine, Lil Bob, Casper, and more are all great in some areas, and good in others. While Physic was fantastic in power, below average in toprock, and horrible in footwork. Of course he change, and exhibit a new style with him working on it everyday, and it truly shows. But back than, it's definitely not a secret as to why Hong 10 was highly preferred to Physicz by Americans. He's closer to our type of bboy than Physicz is.

Let physicx work on his new toprock style and you will see a bboy work wonders. He just needs a bit more style in his rock and footwork and he can't be touched by almost anyone. I think only few people could take out physicx when he was in his prime some years ago, but definitly one of those that could, is hong 10.

In retrospect, one might think hong10 has "killer footwork and floorwork" because he was so influential that a lot of people started doing footwork like that (i.e. the typical korean rolling-around-your-stomach shit, he did a lot of that when he crashed HAHAH).

as he stacks up to US bboys... tops weak, fw weak, but he was very good at dancing on his hands and his head. he would spend a large chunk of his rounds upside down. not on his feet. i mean, crumbs was doing shit like that, but not at the level of hong10 (although some crumbs shit is FUCKING INSANE). his freezes and power, that halo shit he does, people even use the term "hong10 freeze," that's pioneer shit!

i like that you're thinking, i just disagree with your analysis.
my main beef with your reasoning is your logic about being a "top name." you don't become a top name in the US cuz you're well rounded. that's just 1 part of it, but it's not necessary. the way you elevate your status in the bboy world is by battling cats and kicking ass. and at one point, hong10 was kicking a lot of ass. that's all there was to it. it's not cuz he has more tops/fw than your usual korean bboy.

and yeah he kinda is, but his musicality is what keeps him out of it.
