Thumbs down The indian scene - 05-22-2008, 06:14 AM

Watch this video. This is the bboying scene in india. The bboy siimon guy said stuffs in hindi which is translated as under.

Translation :

"The dance was born on the streets of new york. When the

gangs used to fight they used to have a bboy battle

first. bboying started in the 70s when the dj's used to

play songs in discos. So to merge the music that they

played there used to be a part in between that they

called 'break'. Those dancers who used to dance during

the break they were called break dancers and that

evolved and people called it break boying aka bboying."

What do u guys think of this. Also they have pasted flare guides that are worse than that of mike garcia. What should i do to them. Go and murder them.

Please poll

I can understand every word said in this video cus, I myself was born in india and understand hindi and speak it fluently...

umm... I think they misunderstood SOME aspects of it, but atleast they got the jist of it. I'm not trying to support them just because theyre indian like me, but why the fuck are you citicizing their media for making videos like this, when there is worse shit exploiting bboying in the US and other places. Thats like me saying I should kill every mother fucker that makes videos like this in the US and other places.

Plus, if you listen to the ending of this video, atleast they explained the difference between the terms breakdance and bboying. First of all, atleast they aren't calling it breakdancing, and second of all, india's society is completely different than the society here, they had a decent idea about the history, from what the guy said in hindi, the translation is about 90% accurate. From what he said, he implied that gangs used to settle their disputes from bboying instead of violence.

I disliked some parts of this video because they misunderstood some elements of bboying, but those are very minor things. India doesn't really have a big bboy scene, and I doubt this is what it is entirely like. And why are you hating on his guide? He's showing INDIANS how to bboy, what does the quality of his guide have to do with you? Do you really have to compare him to Mike Garcia? So get your head out of your ass and think for a second before you make arrogant remarks such as "murder them" or shit like that. Thanks

I don't care if you're indian too. Being indian yourself, you should have the decency to not come on here posting and flaming about ur own ethnicity. You know how indians are man, theyre ignorant. :P

Peace.

Question 05-22-2008, 11:43 AM

" This is something that happened several years ago when I first met Ice cube. He came up to me and said 'You you should hook me up with some information cause I really don't know that much about Hip Hop Culture and its history'. I really respected that. To me, it made him more Hip Hop then most of these people out here cause he had the nerve to admit that he actually did not know that much about where it came from. " - Crazy legs

What they said is that bboying is done b4 a real gang fight and not instead of a gang fight. And showing up a 1 flare and saying that he can bust a flare is what mike garcia does. Giving fake information about bboying in the media makes wrong public awareness. Facts like 'break' has come from the way the dance is broken into pieces and merged together is shit and all the legendary bboys admits it. Most of the shit they talk about is shit and i dont like people talking shit. And almost all the moves they bust are 'copied' from lot of movies and other footages. They dont even have there own style and they boast about developing style. I'm proud of being an indian and they are not ignorant. Although i'm an indian i have my own way of imgining and my own way of dancing. I can fuk them once i get to mumbai and battle them. I'll show you that video and then you will know why.

Peace

Bro, you know how easy it would be for us to make bollywood if we just started breaking in streets and were noticed by a large crowd of people? Haha, its way to easy to get the attention of the media just like these guys did.

As for the whole gang fight jig, yeah thats why i said they misunderstood some aspects of it, but they got a good enough idea about it. Everyone learns from experience, and they don't seem like they've had enough experience yet. Mike Garcia has some ill moves, but we dont like to talk about him. As for public awareness... once again... nobody gives a damn if he can do more than one flare. You probably could smoke these guys if you saw them in mumbai and battled them, thats because you have a better sense of what bboying is, you know why? Because you're interacting with other bboys across the nation through this site. You are learning on an international basis instead of from these guys who didn't really do their homework.

I'm going to india in the winter, and if i go to mumbai and find a way to contact these dudes, I'm definately going to teach them a thing or two they don't understand.

Peace.

Well obviously, B-Boying is new to India and they have a few misconceptions. I'm sure the they will evolve and begin to learn and care about the history.

Took the words right out of my mouth. But er, the second to last sentence and last sentence completely contradict themselves.

I remember watching Boogie Woogie not too long ago and seeing a bboy on there. It was pretty dope in that the judges did understand the dance and called it 'bboying' and 'popping' and that they had a general understanding of it.

And to the threadmaker: they've got a long, long, longggg way to go.

India's progressing at a fast rate. Along with that, modern social reform is occurring in a fraction of the rate that it had taken the US and others countries. Impressive.

indias the 2nd biggest population in the world, im surprised the bboy scene got to places like china and russia but not india, i mean indians are pretty abstract in dancing, so they would definately bring in a unique style to bboying
