What determines your Power Direction? -
05-20-2008, 05:06 AM
Yeah.. I'd really like to know this so I can set my Power direction straight.
I think its determined by your dominant leg right? Right Leg = CW, Left Leg = CCW? |

That question has been asked a million times already.
Your power direction is whichever way you want to go. It doesn't matter which leg is dominant, whether you're right or left handed, which way your footwork is or whatever. Just pick one direction and stick with it. If you really can't decide, flip a coin. |

I swear one direction of Power is always worse than the other.. I just don't know what my side is... I also have another question.. Why does Lilou stab and Air Freeze with right arm, and his Power and Footwork go CCW..? Same with Brahim... Does it look better to have things going opposite? Maybe it's just a French thing and/or I'm paranoid. |

If you keep second guessing yourself. You won't move anywhere.

I actually never knew that about Lilou n' Brahim, lol. Probably didn't pay that much attention.
To be honest I would say, at least as you start out, to stick with the way you would normally do footwork. The reason why is because when you start off your technique won't be perfect enough to keep the flow going if you went another way, even with a good transition (unless it's a VERY good easy transition). Of course once you get better then you can think about mixing and matching directions, just as long as you reckon you have a good transition in there. |

dude i saw your airchair, it was pretty allsom - and you mean to tell us YOU DON'T HAVE POWERS?!
i'm right handed, and i go CW, because it is LOGICAL. generally, CW bboys freeze on their right hand. but if you use your non dominant hand for freezes, they look better when you spin them. eg if you go CW, and use a left handed airchair spin CW, it looks better than a right handed airchair spin. |

some people hav wierd power rotation. i for example do all power cw except for flares and turtles. just try a backspin both ways and one way will feel more cmfortable. you'll eventually hav to get both directions neway.

But for 1990, it depends on how long you can hold yourself and balance, so doing it on your non stabbing might be a problem. |

it matters which way ur power goes.
think about it...if ur power goes the opposite way of your footwork, how are u gunna transition to them? these little details are important. most people quit bboying becuz they're too lazy to relearn footwork or power in the correct direction. DONT BE ONE OF THEM. for the time being, learn everything in one direction. u can relearn it the other way when u get better and hit the "bboy block" LOL the point where evrything gets harder >.< so really, right stab = CW, left stab = CCW. its possible to change anything in the other direction, but it takes time, and time is important to bboying. just my few cents on how important directionn is |

I screwed up my direction because I followed a CCW power guide for Handglide (Cough D.n.a). Don't worry, I'm relearned everything CW as we speak.. That is my natural EVERYTHING. I Air Freeze, Ground Freeze, Footwork, all CW. lol I need to relearn power now. I won't quit either. I'm not one those people.. I dedicate my life to Bboying.. I love it way to much to quit because of some stupid obstacle. The people that quit so easily were probably Breaking to impress or something. |
