help with starting crew -
05-17-2008, 12:59 PM
so my question is...how do i get word out that there is a breakdance crew that would perform for shows or compete in competitions?
so im pretty new to bboyin..and im practically in love with it... im in china right now and the bboy scene is either really small or i dunno where to go... i wanna start a crew where we have sessions together...and maybe go for a show or smth... im not really that good..which is why i wan more peers to practice with... any tips about creating a crew would be deeply appreciated... THANKS |

A crew is not just a group of people who perform or battle together. A crew is a group of friends, get involved in your scene, make friends and you'll be able to get a crew then. You have to make other Bboy friends before you start a crew.

i got recruited at a jam...
i had been solo for a long time, and my crew had spotted me at the cyphers at like 4 diff jams and they approached me and asked if i ever thought about bein in a crew. i got battled in a week later. if you wanna get down with a crew, i suggest u go to every jam you possibly can and network with as many bboys as u can. sooner or later you'll find a crew (or crews) that know a practice spot and you can hit that up. |

Yeah, I'm pretty sure China has a good scene. To get involved just go to events and sessions and just get your name out there. Dance and do your thing, but don't act like an idiot.

you really just needa find the bboys just go around the block and just start bboying and see if anyone comes and watches you or joins you just i'd say don't do it near cops it's not illegal but it mite annoy them
china is definitely a great place to shine with breakdancing and starting a crew the scenes r big so really go for it peace |

Get a ton of friends together and just session and hang out and see how the chemistry is. If it's good, then create a crew. If not, then don't and just session together. A crew is more about family than anything and if there's no chemistry, then there's no point in making a crew.
