I've been practcing for awhile around real bboys but no one has given me a name yet and I really want one. Do you actually have to be good to earn your name or jus practice alot around real bboys? Jus curious cus I want to earn my name and not think of one on my own...so yeah...what does i ttakle to earn a name?

Don't worry, it will come with time. I mean it doesn't necessarily have to be given to you anyways.

just pick a name you would like to be called and known by and make sure you like it cause you dont wanna switch it in the middle of your career when everyone knows you by a certain name so all your respect is in that name...but if you switch your name half the people will know you as your original name and the others as your new one so your rep is split as 2 diffrent people...its complicated and im fucked up so idk what im saying sorry for wasteing your time reading this really long pointless post that will give you no knowleage on what you ask for in this thread in the first place.

Yeah, dont worry about it. If you have a good name for yourself just go with that. Sometimes its better for someone else to give you one, but its not a necessity.

Being named used to be like, integral to being a bboy, mostly cause the scene was smaller and bboys were able to know each other alot better that way. So it was sorta like being acknowledged as being a worthy bboy.

But most bboys nowadays are young and don't have much originality anyway so you're better off coming up with your own name. I did and i have to say Desi boogie is better than anything that someone else would have come up with for me. At least that's what i think.

Try to make it something that isn't obvious.

Like when i see bboys who are like "bboy fire" or "bboy blaze" or "bboy ghost" i dunno, that shit just doesn't do it for me. But like "bboy Smiley Rok" to take a quick example from this thread, that shit's fresh and it sounds interesting, unique. Don't be obvious and try not to sound cool with your name, it usually just ends up sounding lame. Try and have the name connected to something too.

If someone names you on the other hand and you like it, then by all means go for it and use it.

Peace

Well, I wanted Bboy Neek, but my crew calls me Nimpho, cause both my nicknames are Nim and Neek. They thought Bboy Nimpho is better. Stick to a nick.

the bboy name is no where near as important an issue as being able to call yourself a bboy in the first place. the name is secondary, always. besides, some people don't need names because they were born with a dope name (or they made it dope). you have many options, see.

Don't worry about someone naming you. That was done in the old days of bboying when OGs used to have one person that they basically rasied and trained as a bboy. That was called "son-ing" someone. There aren't many OGs that son young breakers anymore. Most people now a days just name themselves, or go by their real name.

Can't here be used as a way to get your b-boy name?

Like most ppl who are serious about it have at least 1 vid of themselves. Let the Bboy.org members name you, thats like lots of bboys from around the world giving you your name. I think that would be dope.

spell ihop then say ness
