Planet B-boy and how its goin to affect the bboy scene worldwide - 02-22-2008, 06:17 PM

As some if not most may know, 'Planet B-boy' is supposed to come out on theatres. Personally I want to see it but I'm afriad that its going to start a whole new perception of what a bboy really is. Im sure that hey're gonna project that in the movie but i dont think ppl will take it with them when they walk out of the movie theatres.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that I don't wanna see what happened to 'You Got Served,' happen to 'Planet B-boy.'

As everybody knows, when someone who has no type of knowledge of dance and watched 'You Got Served,' afterwards, whenever they saw someone do a dope dance move they'd say something like "Oh, he/she is busting out some 'You Got Served'" or something else that referes to the movie. I don't want someone, after watching 'Planet B-boy' and pretending that they're doing a bboy m,ove and think that they're cool that they can do a windmill or something. Its also goin to start a whole new generation of ppl that are goin to try bboying and really not have any respect for it.

I would like to hear everybody else's views on the "aftershock" of Planet B-boy and whether the world's perception of bboying will change from being a well-respected dance to a joke.

Nothing is going to happen. It's just a movie.
There were breaking movies in the past as there will be in the future.
Even if you teach someone how to break, it's not like they are going to continue doing it.

I have to agree with you DLL, but the movie also sends a message about the reality of Bboying, at the most we will have posers, but us true dancers will have easy prey haha. I'm looking forward to seeing this video.

Dance to express, not to impress.

Its a documentary lol. The focus was mostly on the personal lives of the crews and how thier relationships have been affected by bboying... Kinda similar style to infamy and stuff.

Yeah, but it looks really good. It will not appeal to as wide an audience though, just because it is a documentary (at least that's what I thinkw ill happen), but it sure is a nice treat for those of us who love this art form.

It will of course spawn tons of posers, but there will be people that will be genuinely interested. And you can just battle all the posers lol.

At least it shows some insight on the BBoy scene not like other poser movies and such. I'm just sad they aren't releasing it in any theaters in Canada .
