Fess up, what class did you write this essay for.
I'm just another noob trying to learn the ropes.
I think I'm possibly the slowest learner on all of bboy.org haha.

I think the main problem is that he didn't write it. Who did? Kid Koala or Ken Swift?
"Bitch, lemme lay it down for you. This is how I roll, don't fuck with me or I'll kill you."

Bboying is in itself an entity that defines itself.

breaking is popularized by the damn media, so i think now its important as ever to have an identity.
It's not only breaking, it's dance. Every couple of month's, a couple of random guys with a dumbass dance routine will release some single (crank that, anyone?) and people do it.
personally, i do it to express and to test my limits as a human. yeah, maybe its a dumbass rant im giving, but like said earlier on, every real bboy has a philosophy. breaking, as a dance style, puts tests on a bboy unlike most other dances. there's always more public exposure for a breaker, so the frustration that a bboy faces is unimaginably greater. and, since you're probably already covered in bruises or oozing blood, you're not enjoying it. so, a test of determination? i think so.
moreover, breaking is part of a dance that i love the best in the world. i've tried chinese traditional dance and even ballet, but nothing ever comes close to the feeling of hiphop dance. freestyle makes it the best, because if someone has real style, you can look at it and think of the kind of person they are. my style is fast and disjointed because im impulsive and never bother to really think out my sets before i step into a circle. i have a friend who has a lazyass toprock, but breaks out into chains of freezes around 12 long (with at least 4 airchairs >.>), and hes like that in life too. he's reserved most the time, but when it comes down to it, he's intense as hell.
so breaking, literally defined, i guess would just be a hiphop style characterized by moves involving violent swings, or whatever. bboying is defined by the dancers, and since there are so many of us that are so different, there's never really one definition.

Great read.
I also like to see dance as a celebration of the bodies physical limits.
Anyone got any other ideas?

true bboys don't follow paths, instead, they look inside themselves, delve into the unknown and leave a path behind them
