Dances -

Hey... I need an opinion on this:
I know there's a dance coming, and I'm a bboy. Unfortunately, I don't think any of my frineds are going...and I don't know if there are gonna be any bboys there.. OH and about half the school knows i can bboy, but i don't know them.. they told me to BBoy TWICE yesterday o.O?!?!?! little strange, dont'yathink? and i'm only a freshman so i'm not sure if the upperclassmen will be there in huge numbers... So what do I do? -Avoid the dance because I won't know anyone there -Invite friend/cousin and bboy there -invite friend and NOT bboy there -go to the dance, and bboy for the hell of it -go there, find out there are bboys there, but don't battle, because I'm a beginner bboy what should I do? suggestions? and i've only battled a few times .. but the battles wer wack.. i could only weak six-step and had terrible toprock... and bboyd w/out shoes becasue i could do sixx-step better.. so not much experience battling |

if you can pop or lock or wave thats good. now before the dance work on your six steps everyday and other parts to foot works. but most important work on your freezes. try and find people who are going thats not your friends then make friends with them . and then go . have lots of bboy fun if you need more help then your welcome and im here for you

SORRY not being clear enough, i have actually pretty clean six-step and i have kinda orignial footwokr..
I meant that the only BATTLES i've had were when i had sucky footwork/toprock :P I'm sorry, i'm really really unclear 90% of the time  So, dance it is And if you want to see if i should bboy w/ your own eyes, look up bboy RTHYM on youtube. the first 2 that come up are me bboying, so yea.... thanks for the comments -- Bboy RTHYM |

yea so i will dance thankyou a lot, and i will... i'll c if i can get lots of people to go that i know tho.. i can't go to parties / dances where i'm the only one there.. i get bored lol, but maybe i'll bboy and make friends there.. lol i hope |

Yea! you never know, you could become an insperation to sombody and make them on to start dancing. =P and if you goof up, just start doing the sprinkler move cuz it's sweet lol.

Be realistic lol. I didn't start battling until I could actually hold my own, so I saved myself alot of embarrasment. Why would you do that at a dance, which isn't going to be playing any good music anyway? Let alone infront of your school. U haz to practise.

I just realized that nearly all "dances" I've went to hasn't played any good music.
If you go to a club, you have a pretty good chance they will play something good. But not at a "dance". You have to force yourself to dance to music that aren't breaks, which is actually pretty tough. |

Yeah, like the other person said. Its a school dance. Looking back on school (I'm 26) it was like so showy at stuff like dances. Its not just having fun like at a nightclub but there is sort of like social reputation.
If you want just have fun at the dance. Invite a friend it will be more fun anyway. If you know a good dancer or bboy, invite them and you may be lucky enough to get a cipher happening. Work on the basics. I'm a beginner too and have just been focusing on 6 step, top rock, transitions, cc's and baby freeze and simple freezes. Done well (look at some Ken Swift video's on youtube, there is one where he just does a lot of basic footwork in an outdoor basketball court) basic footwork looks awesome. Done poorly, well it looks poor. Don't let people pressure you into bboying unless you need to/want to proove to them you can do it. Just uprock them and give them a f** off sign (of course they won't know but you will) at the dance But yeah have fun. High school dances are the best. Still all that teenage innocence |

High school dances only play solDIER boy, and all that other crap. ITs just hype music, which is also the same crap thats played in alot of clubs. Its the same thing, really. Don't force yourself to break if the song is wack. When you mature as a bboy, you'll begin to choose the type of songs that move you. Oh god, don't go the sprinkler thing, thats what "bboy 360" does. Wut a ghey.

Ok, sounds good
but i think that most of you think i can't hold my own in a battle. i'm not too experienced, but i have my own style--it's not the best, but it's definately not Cross hands- left foot out- cross again- right foot out-- six-step --six -step-- pause--baby freeze.. I have enough moves to hold my own in a battle. not saying i'll win but i'll put up a good fight. I have baby swipes down, and .. actually, pretty good backspins, but i'm working on Millz and Handglides now. I'm past that initial "learn the VERY basics, then you can get into the other stuff like basic power" Please, click my name, and then look at teh vid. then you'll see what i'm talking about lol, I'm gonna rock that floor.. ... so long as they don't play soulja boy :P I CAN'T STAND THAT SONG it's friggin slow and impossible to dance to.. despite the fact that it has its own dance |
