Practice Sessions -
11-12-2007, 03:26 PM
I was wondering.. how long do you guys practice, is there a specific place u practice, music u practice to, how you practice (everything at once or certain moves for a few weeks/months and then move on), how many times a week,
I practice for 1 to 3 hrs a day, usually around 5 to 7 days a week, i practice at my home and at a dance studio, to pretty much any music i can dance to, and I work on specific sets/moves so tell me what you do? or if i'm doing something i should be improving on? thx -Bboy RTHYM |

Everyday of the week, from 30 minutes to 3 hours, and a 5-7 hour session around once a week.
Usually I practice at the community center, my living room, or my friends' garages. Most of the time I don't have any goals when I session, cuz I rarely find events/jams to practice for, so I just session for fun, probably why I'm not getting any better lol |

1-2 hours every day, yeah just every day. I'm very consistent with my schedule except on weekends. I just chill a bit on weekends and throw in some practice here and there.
I have a hard time finding places to practice. Like you can practice anywhere depending how much you want to make a "scene" in public or your level of public comfort. When I practice at home, I have to make every move as silent as possible. |

My schedule
1 what you already know (for me it's tops, steps & freezes) 2 what you want to improve (transitions and freezes in my steps) 3 something new you want to learn (freezes, flares) 4 something that's a wase of time @ your level (planche, airflare) i strecht before i start a new thing 2 takes the most time then 3,1,4. 4 is basicly goofing around with other bboys who are tired. It depens on where i train mostly only 2 times a week @ the community center. for about 2/3 hours each session. Sometimes also @ the mall. I toprock every day and steps almost everyday. Actually i should train to any music cause if you are picky you'll be screwed in a battle. But i listen to songs i like cause it makes me train alot harder. |

lol I practice at random times in my room to basically any music I can dance to. I got goals, but I practice everything. I usually practice in between my homework lol. I don't have a amount of time I practice each day. I just practice each day different amounts.

2-4 hours on weekdays (approx.) 3-6 on weekends (approx.), lately (since I got back from Aus.) I've been tired and lazy tho and haven't been able to keep that pace :\
I like to session with other people when I can. It's inspirational to see people sooooo much better than you are. You watch and are just like "I wanna be able to compete with that someday soon!", but I end up doing most of my sessions in the garage on my own. I like to split my sessions into "Whatever doesn't hurt like a bitch today", so if I really cranked footwork one day my calves are probably on fire and I'll do a lot of freezes and some tops the next day... |

nice--btw, do you guys ever go to dances and stuff and show ya skillz when there's not many other bboys there just to have fun or do you approach dances more seriously or not at all because you oppose dancing jsut for a crowd without any goals for yourself? just a very long question :P |

I go to dances usually to meet and recruit more bboys. That doesn't work out most of the time so I just dance and have a good time. Coincidentally, I can't dance "normally" anymore and end up getting more attention than I deserve. Well, whatever. It's all fun.

Kinda like this, but, I'm constantly practicing; school, work, home, bus, etc. Waves, popping while I walk, it's actually quite funny, since people stop and look at what I'm doing. I occasionally try to do a Windmill at the park, but I can only seem to do one -sigh- I'm workin' on it though.

Well, at least last year when i was at a smaller school I practice my toprock pretty much anywhere (c'ept school now, don't want to seem like an obsessed person lol) but i practice at my house just walkin around and stuff I tried to do an airchair in french class before the teachr got htere. i kinda fell lol But yea, i practice whenever i can and it really helps that my sister owns her own dance studio so i can practice there... if only i could walk there.... sigh.... Oh well, my mom's gonna get some cardboard and linoleum adn set up a room in the basement for me to practice ! YEa thats great because now i don't have to worry about scratchin up the wood floorsorry for my obnoxiously long posts |
