Uprock -
11-09-2007, 03:14 AM
...back in the hazy dayz of the 80's, uprock was a big 'style' part of breakin....now lookin at some of the vidz posted here, it seems that ppl have lots of power moves and concentrate on these, before having a 'style' with their uprock ? ...has it all changed since I was a grom ? Is style still important....a think a funky uprock style sort of lets down good routines: agree/disagree ?

I believe he's actually referring to toprock. The two were commonly interchanged in the past until the Brooklyn Rockers started correcting people, if i'm not mistaken.

SFTPB -
if you think its all about powermoves these days, then you obviously arent keeping up with the scene. its all about oldschool and footwork and dancing these days. thats the trend for now |

have some respect bro, this guy was breaking before you were born. hes just seeing how much power is being added to the dance by people, that is much different than how it used to be.

Sorry ppl ...for uprock READ toprock .... i've obvioulsy forgot, but back in the day, we used to call all toprock uprock (wrongly obviously oops) anyway, yeah, toprock. And yes, youre right, I havnt been keeping up with the scene, that's why im asking the question - tryng to get a handle on where it all is now.
I used to spend hours getting quick, new uprock perfected and now when I watch some of the vids posted on here (SOME), it seems like some lame funky style and then into mills and flares... ..I just thought it would set up a better routine to look good before you get to the floor - IMO ... Anyway, i'll go back to my slippers and pipe LOL. As a teacher of 10/11 years olds, I decided to give them a taster and am starting a bboyin club for them...nothing too heavy, but they are AMPED after I ran them a few choice vids from here :-) I'll keep you posted... |

^^ That i'm not a little bitch like you.
Fine, do you want me to say "Most people here have less that 7 years experience". Would that make you feel better? See Zuloon, now you're just picking fights. The reason I chose 3 years was because I know alot of the senior members of this site are around or above that. I'm sure there are plenty of hardcore bboys who have been bboying for less that could beat me. I don't doubt that for a second. But usually it takes awhile to develop your own style, and thats what I was getting at. Why do you think I said check out bboyworld? Because the bboys there are going on 9-10 years and are professional, you get a better look at things in the scene by looking at guys who have been in the game longer. Simple as that. I apologize that I chose 3 and that you take offense to everything I say or do. I hope I get to meet you some day kid. Personally, I wouldn't even want to battle you. I'd just like to jack you in the face and call it a day. |

anyways back on topic... Toprocking is still being incorporated into many battles, although it hasnt been seen much lately around this site but as Sandy said this website is a bit lower rank on the bboy scale (not saying that's a bad thing). Just go to local jams or watch international bboy battles. Yeah i admit power and blowups have been blowing up in the scene, but it doesn't speak for all of it |

You must have been watching the French.
Lucky this isn't bboyworld, or else Yugoss would shank me for that comment. |
