I can't do anything.. - 10-22-2007, 11:10 PM

Okay so I found a crew,

But none of us are good!!!

So it's like we're all trying to learn off guides since we can't find an instructor or another good bboy.

I'm trying all sorts of moves and idk why but I get really fustrated that I can't do them.

I get this uneasy feeling like my crew's going to get alot better and i'll be left behind.

I've been trying mills and I didn't get anywhere within two weeks, even through all the guides i've read/saw.

Another weak point is that I lose my inspiration easily.

And we have a battle against an ok crew in a month.

Almost everything I typed probably came out wrong since it's really hard trying to type out how I feel right now.

Anyone got some inspiring words for me???

Losing is learning.

And you are not looking for inspiration, its motivation.

Ask yourself:
Why did you start bboying?
Give yourself 3 reasons to continue.
Then give yourself another 3 more.
Then plan on doing what you wanted to do after your achieve your goals.
Focus on the present but look into the future.

As for the online guides, they legit but they can only take you so far.
But neither do you guys need an ok bboy to get better. Record yourselves, print out pictures from videos or clips. Compare them frame-by-frame to yourselves. Practice in front of a mirror.

I really don't want to say any more cliche lines but here goes:

Fall down once, you get up twice.

watching yourself is key and it will help you improve a lot. i know from experiance, but you won't be left behind if you don't wanna be left behind just keep at it and i'm sure you'll be the one to get millz first.

It's a hell of a lot better than learning by yourself...be sure that you guys give each other honest criticism because if y'all just say "that shit looks dope" without actually meaning it, then you won't improve.

Probably one of the best things y'all can do together is battle each other. One on ones, two vs twos, doesn't matter. The point is to get into a semi-battle mode (a real battle is different but at least you'll get the idea) so you can find out what you need to work on.

I totally agree with Ziveeman about the sincere criticism thing. I got waaay better 'cuz I had a teacher that would tell me when something was wack.

I feel ya man. I always feel like I'm going to be left behind so I practice like a mofo.
Good thing you guys are all around the same level. Believe me, it's good to have friends you can relate to.
My guys have mad style so I have a lot of catching up to do even though they have been breaking years longer than me.

But what Pancit said is true. You have to find motivation.
I write a note to myself as a reminder of why I break, put it in my wallet and take it with me. Read it when I lose it.
