it's my opinion dude. im saying what i personally prefer, while YOU generalize 80's and 90's fashion, yet you fail to justify where you get this information from. you werent even born in the mid-80's so get ya mind correct cuz you wouldnt know. PLUS just because the beat is the major thing for people to dance on (which is like a "no shit" argument), doesnt make it the main reason people like it.

rap IS more meaningful in the sense that it gets its message across with a different and more easily clarified MEDIUM. explain to me what fall out boy's "sugar we're going down" is about. what is the jonas brothers' "s.o.s." song about? what about the killers' "mr. brightside." what are all those songs about? can you tell me?
i DO appreciate music, i never said that i didnt. it looks more like you dont appreciate the artist at all, you only appreciate the instruments. if youre just going to demean all the work of mc's like that, i dont even see why youre into hip-hop. and yeah, i like your last sentence, but it's non-unique to non-rap music. it applies to both rap and non-rap genres, so that concluding sentence of yours has no weight as an argument.
