Origin of Moves? - 10-13-2007, 10:29 PM

I know powermoves (for the most part) are derived from gymnastics and inspiration from capoeira moves, but what about the footwork? Well, y'know, stuff like six step, three-step, yada yada. I tried to compare it with all the other dances I know of and nothing really seemed to match the movements. Any1 got some thoughts? Cuz, I'm as good as lost in this matter.

- 2 Samuel 6:14(KJV)
One day a little child asked Jesus, "How much do u luv me?" and Jesus replied, "this much", and spread his arms wide apart, and died on the cross..................... If u believe this too, put it as ur signature......... God bless...

I think some guy named Spy invented six step and then people came up with the other steps from that.

actually only flares came from gymnastics, jus one powermove.

and moves weren't derived from caporiea, and caporiea moves werent derived from breakin either.

caporiesta's were doin headspins before they seen bboys doin it and vice versa.

So an L-Kick isn't an Au Batido or whatever? How sure are you?

Well from what I've read, air flares were invented by some black dude from Germany and then popularized by this dude Kujo and his crew.

it came from rocking dude, people would just be doing shit standing up and occasionally hit the floor for like a second or two and get back up. It kind of extended itself from that.

The first flare was performed by Canadian gymnast Phillip Delassal in the mid-1970s and adapted by American Kurt Thomas at the World Gymnastics Championships, Thomas was the first to do a flare in a gymnastics routine in competition, hance the name 'Thomas Flare'

and kujo didnt adapt flares into breakin, kujo has been dancin somewhere around 15 years and if you watch Breakin' the movie, someone does a flare in that movie. which was filmed in the 80's, before kujo started dancin
