Shit man, im real sorry to hear that. Its hard to lose an inspiration in your life, especially one that big. Hip hop and bboying are saving my life, not have saved. Theyre making me a better person, so i can live out my life knowing i can do anything i want to do with myself, and to have love and respect for the people i meet. My story is kind of silly though, lol. No inspirational figure. Just me proving to myself through a thing i love that i have worth, and can achieve things i put my mind to. (if youve ever chatted with me youll notice my severe lack of self confidence.) Im using my love for it to develop love for myhself basically. |

Hip hop changed the way I think, no, scratch that, hip hop MADE me think. No one could live life without passion, and for a long time, I was living a boring-ass shell of a life. I would just go home, play video games, do homework and fall asleep. I had a small group of friends at school, but that only lasted till the bell rang. During the summer I went to summer school as an incoming freshman just so I had something to do, then just did bad anyway.
Freshman year I started doing gymnastics, it kept gave me something to do after school and was pretty fun. Too bad my grades sucked so I couldn't stay on the team. Then one day, I go to the school club fair. Nothing really interested me, I was probably just gonna join the Random Acts of Kindness club. Then I saw breakers doing their thing on cardboard boxes. I was thinking wow, look what they can do, and I'm stronger than them, I can probably even do more. I immediately signed up and began to learn 6 step and toprock. I was still bored out of my mind because club meetings were once a week. I sucked too because all I knew was toprock six step and CC's. Then finally in Febraury, my instructor conveniently tells me that I can go after school any day of the week. I began to learn about hip hop and the four elements. From that day on I spent all my weekdays afterschool breaking, I found another passion in writing rhymes, girls want me cause I'm that white breaker with an 8 pack, and I practice every day at home or in Flushing or Manhattan with a bunch of other kids from school and outside. I finally found my two unconditional loves- a girl who loves to dance, and hip hop. |

sprice, This was well-written. I read the whole thing, and
I don't like to read bigass stories, but I was interessted in this since I went thru simillar (dutch grammar =S ) things. Hiphop has also changed my life for the better, and for that I shall always give back to the culture. One love.. |
