How to decide -
07-23-2007, 06:35 PM
Ok I really love funkstyle, but I have a far greater passion for bboying. In battles I get hyped and just love it for breaking. Around here theres no one to even really session with for funk though. Im kinda in a crew for my breaking, and im a lil better than most people I session with, but I just love being able to pop anywhere I want to. So how can I decide on which more I should put practice in to. It's really hard to practice both when people expect so much from both styles(my schools really in to hip-hop). Sooo please help me decide guys <3
Thanks. |

Just do what Machine does... do both. Alot of bboys also do funkstyle because it helps them feel and react to beat better.
It shouldn't be about impressing people or doing what they want to see. It's all about developing your own style and becoming who you want to be. If you forget about what people in your school want... you'll have a better chance at greatness. |

well its not just waht my school wants, I want to break more but its sooo much harder to learn and practice. Popping I could be shopping for groceries and still get practice in. It's just the matter of what I need to do to learn them better thats throwing me off. Im already way advanced in popping but im about intermediate when it comes to breaking. It just sucks only getting to practice breaking with my peoples at a session cuz theres no space at home

*dies* I love oranges though
![]() Well I kinda decided to focus more on bboying since the whole practicing anywhere thing with my popping doesnt really limit my time as much as I was thinking before, and knowing more bboys helps a lot too. So thanks for the advice u gave, and maybe keep telling more in case others ask the same question. |

yea man hang out with more bboys, n talk with them,. maybe they've been thru the same thing as you. Best thing is, just commit yourself to both, you'll eventually get better at both, just put your heart into them. and practice daily.

simple solution : when you can break, break. but for all other instances, such as when you're waiting in line, on the toilet, in the shower, etc. you can pop. or if theres not enough room next to your computer to break, just play some funk and start popping away
