Do you think that the bboys from the states have lost it? I just watched Ibe Korea vs the USA and we didnt do that well. Whats your take on it.

Hmm well put it there. Red Bull BC no USA guys won it for a while Red Bull beat Raiders German crew the flying steps won... BOTY i forgot but pretty sure it wasnt USA either.

And what do you mean, "WE" ? Many of us arent even in the states so i dunno who you talking to with we ?

Well it seems the breakdance scene has slowed down in America. Other countries i believe the bboy scene is rising or still has more of an influence in the media than over here in the states. Like i seen bboy commercials based in Korea and Psyhicx went on MTV Korea. They get more appreciated over there than here. Seems like being a bboy in US doesnt lead up to "fame" status. So the scene would be slow that people want to be other things like bball players, or football players.

I believe the peak in the bboy scene in U.S. was the 80's and 90's. I don't believe they are on top anymore now that other countries are putting interest into bboying.

I live in states too (korean born though), and i hardly notice anything related to bboying in my area.

I think the hot spots for bboying are the following.

NYC
California
Florida
Chicago.

You left out the best spot, Houston, TEXAS. I still reckon Havikoro could take the world on, just need Marlon, Moy, Lil John, and Kirk.

Hmmm i cant remeber who but someone said in "The Freshest Kids" that Europe has preserved The Culture as a whole very well. Maybe that soemthing to do with it. But then again korea and so arent europe...

I wouldn't say their better than U.S theres just more spotlight on them because all you see if videos of other countries but U.S could def hold its own. Nothing like a U.S Cypher

but IMO U.S in the IBE against Korea was sick. I would have to say Korea didn't do too well.

Y'all shouldn't forget though that Ronnie is the only bboy that was in BC One 2004, 2005 AND 2006.

Lol I'm not saying it's all about BC One. In fact, I believe there's lots of better bboys out there without any fame.

i live near seattle and there are quite a few crews coming up, as well as mine--we arent the greatest but we are there. i also know that there are quite a few crews down in Oregon.

I think IN GENERAL, the scene has been fading away but I wouldn't say we've lost it.

There is still a lot of ppl to keep the scene alive.

Movies like Planet B-Boy are helping out a lot. I think Kickin it Old School, as much as I hate to admit it, should help out as well (or make it worse).

I think we just need it more in the media if you think "we've lost it."
Like them Jeep commercials or for Puma or something.

Puma is doing hell of a good job actually they sponsored BOTY a while back...
Plus Puma tracksuits were popular to wear back in the day i believe it was. Then they started using b-boys for commercial stuff in beat street (the tracks again) when hiphop started to make money. But hell what more can a company do than to sponsor right ? <(talking bout boty not beatstreet)

Favorite bboys in the states are probably Machine, Casper(Canadian but stays here most of the time), and Bboy Milky is nice with it.

the "problem" that you see with the US scene isn't because we're losing it. it's actually because the scene is TOO BIG! first of all, let's just talk about area.. the US is huge compared to france and korea and all those other big bboy countries. naturally, the US has wayyy more bboys and thus a bigger scene, in the underground sense.

secondly, in the other countries, there are just a handful of dope crews. it's pretty much the same couple crews winning events and stuff. but in the US, there are lots of crews that you've never heard of that can smoke crews the likes of phase T and maximum, whatever. there are too many crews that there aren't enough stand-out crews like they have in smaller countries.

thirdly, the US is keeping it real. the cypher scene here is better and more intense than in korea, born said it himself after his battle with casper. i've also heard of jam reviews of bboys from the US visiting korea and reporting almost NO cyphers! and while watching that kys/bruse lee vs cico/teo battle at ground control, i noticed it was like fucking stadium seating at the venue. correct me if i'm wrong, cuz i wasn't at the jam. but it was like a fucking spectator sport.

btw, korea got destroyed by the US at IBE, if i remember correctly.
