Cyphers. That's where the real shit goes down. Honestly, i don't think bboying was ever meant for stage, but that's just my opinion.

battling at jams forces me to up my game, which is why i like it. it's also dope because you're with bboys, the whole atmosphere is different from dancing in front of an average crowd. getting props from a bboy crowd a much more satisfying than getting cheers/applause from an audience.
bboying for shows isn't all bad though. the time and effort that it takes practicing with your crew or team for a show brings you guys closer than just practicing simple routines and sessioning would. not only that, but it's a rewarding feeling knowing that you can organize a good show (if the show it good, that is. a wack show doesn't count). |

Ofcourse dancing for shows. Always dance for shows instead of battles.
Dance to Impress, not to express. Wtf are u thinking. ...LoL, naw just playing. Cyphers would obviously be easier on u but doing shows don't hurt. It don't make a sell-out. A sell-out is someone who's name is Slim Thug, and makes a song named "With Love (Remix)" with someone named Hilary Duff. I'd do both, if I was good enough be hired for a show. Do what you want... do yo thang pimpin'. U smell money? ...go make it. |

.... jk i like both. shows b/c youre def. outstanding as a bboy but it's choreographed. cyphers/jams you get to freestyle but youre probably non-unique amongst other bboys. |

Just to be different I'ma say showing off in circles at school dances xD
But I'm not that much of a powerhead, and all those geeks wanna see is 'teh breackedenz0r dat spint on hiz handz backzz and headzzz' ... So anyway, I prefer battles. Shows are fun, but winning a solo jam feels way better than winning a talent show or whatever. |

Battles.. When I Go To A Jam.. (Not To Often)
I Can't Stop Thinkin About It After For A Week Or Something It Pumps Me Up and Motivates Me.. But Yeah.. I Did A Lot Of Paid Show Before.. Believe Me In The Beginning Ur gonna Think OMG A SHOW I RULE I WANNA SUCK MY OWN COCK.. But After Like 100-150 Shows Ur Gonna Get So Sick Of Shows... Battles Don't Bore You Out.. |

What's wrong with shows in all honesty? If they're showing off all elements and enjoying themselves, i can't see how it injures the culture of any part of the dance itself to be doing shows. I did a show for a talent quest a while back where my friends were breakin, i was popping and rapping and a mate was djing, we repped the elements, we didn't front as something we weren't or misrepresent what hip hop/bboying is about and i felt a HUGE surge in my self-confidence for having gotten up in front of 1000 people and pulling off a planned show. Peace |
