Very Important Must Read ! - 04-09-2007, 09:59 AM

"The wise man asks himself the reason of his mistakes,
The fool asks others" Chinese Proverb

In other words you do not need to log on to bboy.org for every time you do a move wrong or can't get it. Just go over it yourself its real easy.

EDIT: Move to Moves section mod sry

It takes an athlete to breakdance, but an artist to be a bboy.

Sometimes you need others to point out the problem, but it's still a cool saying.

The reason of one's mistakes in bboying is that they suck. The reason they log into here is to work out how to not suck.

But for the most part you are right. Asking people how to do things better is often less effective than actually thinking about it and changing something. But sometimes getting an outside perspective from others can help solve a problem.

That's crap. Absolute crap. The only reason that people shouldn't ask for help around here is that the answers they receive may be uninformed, or completely wrong.

Wanna know why it's good to learn with others pointing out what's wrong? Because if you don't learn with other more experienced breakers you may in fact develop really bad habits with your moves or terrible technique or as happens more often, develop a bad habit that your body isn't trained to recognise and correct which may in turn lead to not being able to progress further with moves.

Learning with others is MUCH better than learning by yourself, you learn how to combine styles and flavour, creativity feeds off creativity and learning in a fun, positive and experienced atmosphere is much, MUCH preferable to solitary training most of the time.

Don't spout bullshit homilies that pretend to be catch-all statements for all forms of learning. Real and universal wisdom is rarely found in such cliched sayings.

Peace

The saying works in bboyin, bboyjz, but it doesnt mean NEVER ask for help. It means it's often easier and better to look at your mistake yourself and try to find out whats wrong with it. Of course sometimes you just can't know what you're doing wrong so you come here.
But seriously, its just ridiculous that people get in the moves section and ask the stupidest questions ever. Where was that guy who asked if doing handglides with the right arm was right?

JZ Just mad.mdx said i meant that the moves section is filled with dumbass questions. Seriously people should just concentrate on what they are doing. And have some common sense.

yeah i think it really helps when you stop to think about what you're doing wrong but other times you may be doing something completely wrong and have wrong beliefs about it in the first place...so i think if its been a long time doing wrong things you should ask others for help
