rotation of powermoves vs left/rigth handed ! -
04-08-2007, 01:22 PM
Blah I almost flared counter-clockwise and now I find out that I have to do everything 1 way ... I kind of do crickets, mills, all power stuff on my right arm ... but can't stand the thought of flaring counter clockwise !!!
Is this me or any of you guys have the same problem ? Something like body better suited for one direction but mind wanting the other ? And what should I do ? Will my mind get used to the opposite direction ? |

Just try to master the move 100% on your favorite hand, later you can do it on the other hand/the other way.
If you really want to have it all clockwise, then I guess try to learn the flare over again. It will probably go faster, because you know already what to do in the opposite direction. I don't have this problem, since I do all my powermoves and stuff counter-clockwise/left-handed, even though I am right. The body suited for a direction is something I don't really believe in. After some practice, your mind will do this, it's the same with doing something wrong in a move, like bending your knees when you are doing windmilling or not opening your legs when 2000'ing. |

By the way, don't forget that BBoying is also a bit about "adding your own flavour".
(Footwork/Toprock for instance). You can put it next (in terms of speaking) on what part you start your Sixstep. So I don't think you should really care about the rotation, just the part that you mastered it . But still, if you feel bad about it, train it into the other way . |

well for power combos you need to go one way, all the way ! I mean you can't mill counter-clockwise, then flare clowckwise, then jack counter and so on ...
it would look smth like spin/stop/spin/stop ... I think I should have asked which is easyer to overcome ... me thinking clockwise is bad or building up strength and body for my left hand. |

I don't get what you're saying, if you do all that mill/stabbing stuff on your right arm, you should be going clockwise. Then you're saying you can't stand the thought of flaring ccw, but your flare should be going cw as well since all powermoves should combo in the same direction.
Anyway I have the same problem, I used to only stab with my right (since im right handed) to do handglides/turtles/start a mill, but all my moves are ccw. Now I gotta relearn with my left after I found this out. I'm working on it though. |
