The Last Phase of Bboying - Growing up - 04-02-2007, 02:50 PM

Its something that every bboy is going to have to go threw no matter how ill or wack. Even though im not even close to that point i think about it alot and ask myself questions like " Will my success as a bboy help me in the real world". Giving up something you love and have put so much time into is sad but it will have to happen eventually. Whats your plan when you quit and what parts of bboying have helped in other things?

why do you have to quit? no one has too. im never gonna quit bboyin', i'll probably have to stop competing, but not bboyin'. i Plan on teaching my grandkids how to bboy. No one has to, i know i can't, it's all in your mindset.

You will eventually stop bboying, yes. But you can always be apart of the hiphop scene.

I started bboying late , so , I realize that I will never be able to do all the power moves a well as most of the Breakers out here. However, that dosen't mean I still won't be able to dance. As long as I maintain a healthy diet and discipline myself , I'll be good til death.

My biology teacher once told me that the human body never loses it's ability to gain and maintain muscle and physical ability, it's just our poor lifestyle. Thus, age won't stop me from Bboying.
I know adults who even in having a career and family, still play the sports they love, they even play in leagues.
I'll never stop Bboying [of my own free will] unless God told me to stop.

One day a little child asked Jesus, "How much do u luv me?" and Jesus replied, "this much", and spread his arms wide apart, and died on the cross..................... If u believe this too, put it as ur signature......... God bless...

this is just my opinion, I'm sure most of you think otherwise but I'll tell you what I think anyway:

If you bboy for real, you have NO LIFE. People from Gamblers (using them as an example since they're so popular) didn't become some of the best by going to parties every day, by sleeping through the week, by studying to get doctorates.
I don't think anyone here is a real bboy (I know I'm not) because if we were we probably wouldn't be on the Internet right now. When you're a real (by real I mean a hardcore fanatic) BBOYING is LIFE.
So since none of us are really hardcore bboys in the first place, we can't really "stop" bboying since it's something most of us do as an activity for the fun of it, not because it's our life, kinda like chatting on WLM or playing a video game. Worse case scenario we just dance less and less and eventually get too old and become unable to dance anymore.

Either way, bboys stand out of the crowd whether they dance now or they danced before. The legacy remains, that's what we'd all want in the end, no?

Just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

before you disagree, make sure you understand.

I bboy for fun. I never had any intention of using breaking skillz to get anywhere in life. I plan to achieve success through ways completely unrelated to being a bboy, and breaking is a recreational thing I do for fun. I don't see how one has to grow out of it.

Bboying is not intended to be something you do to make money or get through life..it's a medium, like all hiphop, to express who you are. For those who really really love it, then yeah, it because their life and their focus, but for a lot of people it's still a lifestyle.

I'm never going to stop feeling what I feel when I hear a dope beat, and never stop wanting to move when I hear music, and I'm never going to stop having a thought or feeling to express, so I'm never going to stop dancing...just because I don't practice 8 hours a day and am as hardcore as possible doesn't mean I'm not a bboy, it just means that that aspect of my life isn't always my prime focus.

Sure, if someone is uncommited and never dances then they might not be considered a bboy, but just because you don't devote your entire life to something doesn't mean you don't love doing it, or are any less passionate about it.

We don't ALL have the skills nor the schedule to take up bboying as the main aspect of our life.

i dont think that if u bboy a shitload its that u dont have aa life its just that u chose to make bboying your life, im not all the crazy at bboying, i once said that i was gonna be buried in a cardboard box(as a joke) but it all depends on what you do.. as u get older you get a job, buy cars houses, ect... life becomes more and more of a hastle, so manny things to stress about time starts to consume and u may or may not have time for the thigns you liek to do .. it all depends on what happens

I know where you coming from man. I mean, I can't really say anything 'cuz I haven't been doing this that long...but I have enough time for 2-3 hours of bboying a day, even 4 hours on some of my less busy ones.

And this is all while studying full time in a law and media communications double degree, and working a part time job to buy a car. So it's all about time management...

Can't dismiss physicality, though...if my physical body gets messed up one day, not much I can do...but I can try to maintain it for as long as I can.

I disagree, completely- Bboying is my life- i am a real bboy, i've earned my name thru hardcore training and by battleing several cats casually, or battleing at jams. Bboying is just a part of my life- i rather go out there and dance even by myself than other hobbies people might have (not saying there's anything wrong with that) but basically where im trying to get at...bboying is my passion, i'll do it for as long as my body permits me to, i don't worry too much about it tho, i find no use in worrying about useless shit that won't come in a long time- so just worry about doing what you love right now and fuck the other shit

Peace
