more biters out there -
12-28-2006, 03:19 AM
me and a friend were talking, and we realized that there are alot more biters coming up nowadays. probably because bboying's becoming more and more popular through the web, videos are leaking out through youtube, bboyworld, even here. i wish that it hadn't been that way, sure you get to see some of the worlds greatest bboy's, but through seeing their videos, some cats out there just watch them to get their sets/ideas
beee freshhh sonnn!!! what do you guys think about it? |

lol i dunno i dont care, it doesnt really bother me, like my sig says. if someone bites your shit, make your shit fresher and more difficult, i mean if someone could do it...then it only pushes you, and it should, to make the set/move/whatever more complex. but you should know a fine line between what to bite and what not too, if you're going to bite.

id have to disagree with epidemic...
umm... there are alot of nice ass sets out there made of basics and most footwork are made of basics and for someone to bite it and someone took time to think of it.. its not hard to do that move.... for ut o say to make ti more difficult? did u think of how difficult it was to think of it? if someone bites there as low as low as gets... ifi saw someone bite my shit.. id go up to them battle them for thier shoe, name, crew name, and to never use that set again dont say stuff like "make it harder so no one ever steals it again" if i was to make something up and a even more experienced bboy would have no difficutly doing the move no matter how hard it was.... biters suck.. theres no other way to look at it.. if someone bites you.. you should care... thinking up of new moves and set is the hardest thing iv done in life.. and if someone bit it off meeh i wouldnt noe what to do but tobattle for it |

For the most part it's impossible not to bite some of the more basic moves and even alot of advanced moves, mainly because everything has been done before. We all bring a bit of ourselves to moves that have been done over and over.
But in relation to entire sets, I'd say that's wack as hell. But to the unique moves, i think it's somewhat bs to call dibs on something. Like if you invent a small variation on something and then get pissed when other people try and do it, like what the hell, you're not helping bboying you're being kinda selfish. You can be remembered as the first person to do something but let others do it as well. |

You're going to absorb the styles of those you watch or those who teach you. Its your job to then modify what you learn. The difference now isn't that there are more biters, the difference is that people can see outside their area before they get to a national/international level of skill. Meaning that people won't just end up with the 'style of their area'. Why do you think there are so many moves with "New York" or "Brooklyn" in the title?
Just smoke someone in a battle who jacks you if it means so much, otherwise there really isn't anything you can do about it is there? Some people in life are just jerks. |

styles are vast but still limited so someone is bound to have something that someone else has.

There's no such thing as biting. It's just a myth.

Lol...... cmon......
there is NO limit, you can always make up new shit... just a slight arm movement or something We're all biters, yet there is no such thing as biting Everything you do is done on your own way, no one can exactly copy your shit... If someone takes a footwork move and uses it, who the hell cares? If someone takes something and you're pretty damn sure it's yours, like sticking your finger in your nose and the other one in your butthole while no-handed footworking, then you better go to that bitch and show em who da man =] whatever, flame on me, fck you all |

I can understand where you're coming from, but still, stealing entire sets/routines or copying significant parts is gay and i think is the only real kind of biting.
