circus stretching -
12-21-2006, 12:06 AM
hey everyone
im getting into the circus style but im having trouble stretching out my legs. I can put my leg behind my head but im trying to get flexible enuff so that i can kick it behind my head like rubberlegz, raw skeleton, law and all the other circus breakers. I want to know if anyone has any stretching routines that would help me with circus. Help would be much aprreciated - Nix |

I'd say go for holding straight armed/legged bridges for spinal sweetness. Practice palming the floor for extended periods of time until its easy to smell your balls, cuz if you can suck your own dick, you got the illest faceplant on bboy.org. After that, go for negative splits until your scrotum literally rips down the middle of the sac. Then you should twist your upper torso as much as you can while twisting your lower torso the opposite way to test your limits, but don't and go pull a Saw 3 scene on us. With these stretching techniques implemented, circus breakers watch out!

You don't actually need to be really really flexible to be circus or abstract. Take a look at Thesis and PA, they're abstract (well Thesis is developing more foundation but take a look at his older vids) but they don't lotus or throw their leg behind their head.
Just a suggestion. I personally can't stretch to do that so I won't bother giving advice on that. |

just hold your leg behind your head for like 30 seconds or something. then do the same with the other leg. then do like it again like 5 more times. every other day i'd say. can you snap into lotus? that should be a definite prerequisite.

Do splits. And like it's been mentioned above, work on getting into lotus easily and getting your leg(s) behind head. I'm not a "circus" bboy, but it's great to have someone on this site getting into it.

You put your right leg behind your head, and you loop your left leg around your neck, while your ankle on the right leg goes under your crotch. Then you take your right arm and wrap it around your waist, while you put your left arm through the loop that your ankle and crotch makes and grab your right arm. Just hold that stretch for about thirty seconds a few times a day and you should be able to get enough flexibility to perform those circus moves. Good luck!

haha ya im not even flexible and i can go into lotus no handed in an invert and elbow freeze and i can jump and land in it. I cant put my leg behind my head or anything like that so i dunno but how i got so decent at the lotus was just holding it.i would get into and usually sit in the bathtub like that or take a nap like that. After a while it starts to hurt but thats what really helped me. but you have to stretch like 4 times a day to be a circus dancer.
