Hi, guys!
I can't hide my feelings anymore. On 21nd October 2006 we have in Germany like every year the International Battle Of The Year. I watched the BOTY Korea 2006 Shows and Final Video and now I'm very motivated to practice, practice and practice...! ![]() But since three months my both wrists hurt and I have to say it's a fucking problem!! I have the feeling that it don't want to heal. I hurt my first wrist by helping a nine years old child doing handstands. He fell and I caught him but in a bad way. But the history is not so important. Both wrists suck and I can't practice since three months. Two times I was talking with the doctor and one time I was x-raying my wrists. The man said he cannot help me much. In the future I should support my wrists when I want to dance. I bought Medical Bandages but I'm not sure if they help me. Oh I forgot I have some tablets and cream. I'm sure it is a little bit better but it heals so sloooowly I can't imagine anymore that I'll do handstands or my favorite move the planche. All the time I was practicing tops and so on...of course this is the positive side, because after four years of bboying I really didn't practice tops. ![]() I hope somebody had a similar experience or some advice for me. Thanks guys ![]() |

Ahh, that sucks. Wrists are the most annoying body part when it comes to bboying...they're so easy to injure and it prevents you from doing anything other then toprock. But i dunno, a few months of toprock practicing can actually be really good if you use your time well and really work on it.

ya bud i might have to have surgery in my wrists. A long long time ago when i started doing airchairs, i started feeling intense pain in my wrists. I now have a calcium deposit in my right wrist . So i can choose whether or not to have the surgery... so i dunno. But i wear a wrist supporter which helps a ton. I'm not talking about just some gauges, this is thick material and is wrapped tight around the wrist. It takes away most all the pain, i dunon if youve tried it but it really relaly helped me.

I never had any wrist problems, when I first started I just noticed my wrists were getting thicker, more ripped, and alot stronger, and it really improved my tennis game. I had played tennis for like 4-5 years before I started bboying, so that may have been a good prerequisit. If I were you I would read the wrist warm up guide that can be found on the internet, it might even be on bboy.org, it has stretches and some exercises you can do for strength.

i injuire my wrists alot from jackhammers n whatnot but i usually just practice stuff that doesnt involve them, like forearm freezes n stuff. being inujured sucks but if you love bboying you will practice something else, making you a all around bboy.

man 3 months isnt very long at all to have wrist pain. My first hard sprain took 6 months too heal.
And dude, i am BOUND to constantly wearing strapping. I have sprained my wrists so many times that i must train in straps. Dont do what i did, if you want them to heal properly, then dont put pressure on the joints, no handstands or nothing for 6 months. To prevent more damage to joints, strenghten the forearms, wrists and hands. Use a gripper or a powerball. and only one kind of strap works. BOXERS WRIST STRAPPING, should you want to strap them when you first get back into it, then buy the straps from any local sports store. To help with healing, you should ice and heat your hands everday as well as exercise them a little. |

@Swiper I have two questions: To prevent more damage to joints I should strengthen the forearms, wrists and hands. I know that my wrists aren't okay, but should I practice this now or when I have to do it??
The BOXER WRIST STRAPS can I wear them for school sport to support the wrists for example by playing volleyball or isn't that good?! Thanks to all (!!) ...especially to Swiper, he lets my hope grow... ![]() |
