Red face Powermove discomforts - 09-10-2006, 05:44 PM

Whenever I do powermoves, there are some discomforts involved, even though I'm thoroughly warmed up and stretched out.

If I do flares, I practice high and strong flares, but I would stop after 3 flares because I felt my right wrist hurting. My wrist isn't sprained by the way, but my friend said he noticed a dimple on the top of my wrist nearby the round bone or the ulna.

When I do windmills, usually no-handed, I create some strong power with my legs with the kip up motion too. After a few rounds, it feels as if my legs are about to tear apart in the groin and the scrotum area (my legs are pretty spread when that happens).

I'd like to hear some good explanations and what should I do to get comfortable to do strong power. Is it flexibility, conditioning, or are there any other issues I should know about?

the more i do flares, the more my wrist will start to get sore, so i limit my time doing em now, but soon, ill be able to get use to em all day any day....

windmills, i never had any problem.... i can do em anytime of the day and they don't do any damage to me...

Hey Bboy Teekay i don't usually post anything on bboy.org but i had the same problem like you..when u said your friend noticed a dimple on your wrist bone....its prolly a ganglion, thats when you put pressure constantly on your wrists, fluid builds up and becomes sensitive..to get rid of it u can either go to a doctor and get it drained by sucking the fluid outta your wrist..or u can do what i did......pop the ganglion by massaging it really really hard or by bashing it against the ground....for quick results i recommend bashing it against the ground or hard surface.....but before u do anything ...make sure its a ganglion........
aight Peace out

dude you got to remember to stretch a lot but for now i recommend resting for like a week on your power....even stretching at this point could hurt you

i wish i could do head spins -B-BoyKT

Left leg swings/keeps your hips off the ground. If this leg bends or collapses in any way, you will drop like teh rock in eh pond. - br8kness

Yeah, I've been doing less power lately, working more on my style. Thanks for the advice dudes, I'll keep that in mind.

A wrist ganglion can only look like this? http://12.31.13.3/library/healthguid...nr55551984.jpg
I don't have a round bump nearby my radius or thumb area, but can there be a wrist ganglia on any spot where the joint is located?

HMMMMmmmm well i don't know where exactly the bump is on your wrist but yes it can be on any part of your hand or wrist of a joint, so that includes your finger joints and the top and bottom of your wrists...

Yea what they said. Rest is usually important. Like if you don't feel like doing flares that day, practice windmills. If you don't feel like windmills, or flares practice some freezes. Every day is different for me. Stretching is also important before and after you practice. Especially after you practice you should stretch again. Runners stretch after they have a session and you will get more out of the stretches because you are already warmed up. I really hate stretching but I use to do it religiously, but now I just hate it so much and am fed up with it that I don't care about form anymore of having my legs split alot, I just do it.
