Be Aware of Your Body! -
09-09-2006, 01:37 AM
I just want everyone to be more aware of their body's health. You see people quit bboying in those other posts for 1 reason: they become concerned about the health of their body. They see the damage that bboying does to their joints, and realize that it might be time to walk away while they still have a joint left.
Treat your body like you would treat equipment that is very imporant to you. Equipment that you want to be fully functional and work for you for a long time. If you take care of your equipment (your body), it will take care of you. The better and longer you take care of that equipment the longer it will last for you. YOU determine how healthy of a life you live, and how long you live. I am not saying that dancing is bad, what I am saying is that too much dancing can be a bad for your body. Be aware of that and be smart about your body's health. |

KAIZEN- Constant self-improvment.
Perfect work -> Perfect Results Oustanding work -> Oustanding Results Excellent work -> Excellent Results Great work -> Great Results Good work -> Good Results Poor Work -> Poor Results Nothing ^ None of that chart is true. The truth is that Perfection in work gives you Outstanding results. It works that way for all levels. If your do a poor job at work you will get fired, and have nothing. |

I'll agree with you on that. That's why I only bboy 3 times a week. Not everyday like I used to. Your joints just get worn out because of all the stress they're put under.

Hmmm...well, by dancing, I'll assume (break)dancing is implicit. Well, that goes with any sport or activity that uses all the muscles of the body in a rigorous, intense manner. With tennis, many players have horrible shoulder joints because of their perpetual swings and rotation of the arm, and with MMA, well..lets just say Chuck Norris has had hip replacement surgery more than once. The bottom line is, the rules of thumb you give for bboying can be applied to any other activity that is physically intense as well. The number one protection of not getting injured, and not developing horrible joints is not doing it less often, but actually doing it as often as you want, but SMARTLY. Warm-up and stretch before you session, and I mean real good. If you do this everyday, and practice everyday, it won't necessarily be bad. Think about any professional sport or any physically exerting activity. The people who become masters of their art are the ones who practice THE MOST, ALL THE TIME, but with that same token, take the same measures of precaution THE MOST-->>ALL THE TIME. (Not to be taken literally) But, as I like to say, your body can take anything, you just gotta prepare it for the impact...just my two cents, Peace.

well given that mentality you might as well stop doing just about everything..running tears at ur knees, basket ball tears at ur knees and ankles, wrestling tears ur joings like crazy too, weight lifting does excessive damage to ur whole body, etc.....but yeah bboying does tear at ur joints more than other things.....
but with a few thousand dollars you can get joint replacements and plastic surgery so its all good........ |

Well his greatgrandmother could be dead, and she still would be 104. He could say, my greatgrandmother is 104... but she's dead. She died at 92 or something. Some people use trickery in their statements and 104 is a little hard to believe.

1st of all shrapple is just piece of trash ! screw the bitch ...
2. About health ... have you guys ever wondered how healthy bboying is ? Like sure, u screw a few joints, twist a few ankles, have a few shoulder pains and you must be always aware that this is a moderate/high risk sport but ... think about muscle definition, balance, cardiac exercise, mobility,c oordination, speed, endurance, etc ! All the things that modern people tend to forget about ! Ppl nowdays tend to forget about the importance of sports in general ... and spend all their times in front of a pc (like shrapple over here) So what I'm trying to say is that, when done right, bboying can be much more healthy than unhealthy ! And for example, I used to smoke 2 packs of cigs/day for about 4 years ! I'm 18 right now with six months of no smoking and about 7 of bboying ! Never felt better in my life ... I thing that by doing sports I recovered a lot faster ! Take care and enjoy ... and ignore shrapple ! |

Don't try to manipulate the general reader into thinking in your close minded ways. Obviously Bboying is good for your body, all sports are good for your body and stamina, that's just common knowledge. Injuries will come but overall playing a sport or an extreme sport like breakdancing does wonders for your strength stamina reaction time and speed.
