My Knee Might Stop Me From Bboying - 09-05-2006, 01:36 AM

i keep spraining it doing simple foot work..and everytime i sparin it i have to wait 2 months before it heals...ive sprained it twice already and now im waiting for it to heal..sigh..

any advice?

alotta ppl call me a footwork fanatic...sigh...my knee is killin me..-_-

at the beginning it didnt sprain but i "popped" it one time getting up and then i did footwork and it sprained...and then it healed...and now its sprained again after we sessioned...sigh...

so any advice on what to do in the future?

what i should do while for it to heal faster?

what should i do to keep fresh with bboying?

Heres some advice, don't count your chickens before they hatch. Not everybody is built for breakdancing and alot of people quit after just a couple years because they find that out the hard way. So, I repeat, Don't count your chickens before they hatch, because not everybody makes it. What you should do in the meantime is buy an xbox360 as they are available now, buy DOA4 the best fighting game to ever exist, theyre are bboy like characters in the game, and when I'm not bboying I'm practicing my style with Ryu Hyabusa, add me to your friends list, my name is shrapple, and then lets play DOA4 online. It's funny because you can chat while you play and some guy was like, YOU'RE ONLY DOING POWER MOVES! Reminded me of bboy.org...

Stretches stretches stretches.

Light exercise on it is the best idea whilst it's healing. Don't stretch so hard it hurts but get some light extension and strengthening of it going on.

But before you do that, schedule an appointment with your local doctor and get it checked out. You may have an unknown and unremedied knee problem and if you keep working it out you could do permanent and irreversible damage.

None of us are qualified to make a decision as to a regime for healing based on second hand accounts over the net, leave this to a professional.

Hope everything works out all right for ya, just keep it out of action until you know the results, it's better to leave it alone than keep working it out and not being able to walk at all in the long run.

Peace

Alot of people start out with high aspirations but breakdancing is one of the hardest styles of dance to have ever been created, and it is also considered an extreme sport, and I stress the word Extreme. They were trying to get breakdancing to become an Olympic sport but that didn't happen as style can be judged in too many different ways. If you sprained your ankle and can't do footwork, work on hollow backs, building up shoulder strength, and maybe even lift some weights so that when you do begin again you will have gained some muscle mass. I cannot tell you the difference you will feel after you have gained strength. And I was being serious about the xbox 360, don't wait until PS3, PS3 are for posers, buy an xbox 360 and DOA 4, fighting games never get old, especially now that it is online. There is a ranking system, you are graded, you can play in tournaments, it's awesome!

Dude, I know all about injuries, and it does suck when you want to practice but simply can't. I'm telling you man, work on your power, do it now.

Foundation should always come first. You need a great foundation to build upon, don't just rush into power.

Nah I'm saying because his leg is broken, he should be working with his arms, like handstands and hollow backs, you cant do a 6-step when your leg isn't in any condition to be being swung around whichever way he does his six step.

hey,

I sorta feel ya, cause my knee has been acting up on me lately, even after I stretch it out fully. I'd say get online and try to find some supplements or something like that. I'm takin this stuph call Tahitian Noni Juice, not the fake crap that says "do not give to childern or pregnant women", here's the link to the stuff I take: http://www.tahitiannoni.com/united_s...dex.html?r=496
-I just started takin it a little less than a week ago and my knee ain't botherin me as much (that and my migranes are being reduced drastically). But that's something you could look into, cause judging by what you put, you don't wanna give up breakin.

Warm up for about 10 minutes before you decide you're going to do your footwork fast. Go slowly until you are dancing at a comfortable speed and then stay at that speed until you feel you can go faster if you want to at all. Keep your legs slightly flexed so nothing pops out of socket.
