What Should I Do? - 10-18-2005, 05:54 PM

Ok my left wrist is really weak. I'm trying to learn crickets and everytime that I do them more than once, my wrist really starts to bug me. No matter how much exercise I do to it - it still hurts. However, my right arm can hold my body weight no problem and never feels any pain, plus within my first attempt I could do one cricket. Here is where I need some help. I windmill CCW, but if I decide to learn crickets (then eventually jackhammers) with my right hand, I will be going CW and therefore I will never be able to transition into one another.

Simple, keep at it with your left hand, but whatever you do, don't strain it too hard. My teacher told me that he continued to work on his wrists once after they were hurting and they cracked, very painful.

Just keep at it with the crickets, the key is patience cause your wrists WILL eventually get used to the stress, you just gotta take it slow and steady at first. I have the same problem with my wrists, they hurt like crazy when i use them too much.

The whole left handed thing is worth it though, here in australia we do all of our freezes on our left hand and CCW which means that learning both on left and right hand comes easier cause we learn the hard way first.

Peace

P.S-As if block me on msn trance_addict, that hurts :P

just take a break from them altogether, or if you can find one small enough for your wrist, get a weight lifting glove with wrist support.

I didn't even know that I had you on my msn??? Which account did I block you in - cuz I have three and I usually use the one cuz the other ones have too many ppl on them... If I did it's cuz I wasn't sure who you are, everyday I get guys that add me just cuz they want to web cam (eww) from faceparty so I always delete and block them hah. So maybe I figured you were one of them sorry.

Oh and always learn all your moves in the same direction, unless your planning on learning reverse powermoves. Which is HARD and takes a lot of time n practice.

Keep trying with the left - it will take a lot longer but it's worth it.

It really all depends. A new dude came to my class (also goes to my school) and had about 3 crickets down in 2 minutes. It was insane, he just tried them once and had it.

However assuming you don't have freakish talent i'd say it all depends. If you get that wrist support and don't have further problems with your wrist it should only take you a few weeks at the most. The basic technique isn't too hard, it's just pivoting your right hand and then popping your left.

The only thing you should have further trouble with is endurance. Because it's a high impact move and requires quite alot of stamina to keep it going it will take a while to get some consistent ones going. But the basic technique should only take a few days at most to learn (i picked it up in class fairly quick).

Good luck with it all,
Peace

Read Pres' guide.

With that, multiple crap crickets should take you about a week. Good crickets about a month.

I've read Pres' guide like 5 times lol. It's a great guide but it doesn't help with my left wrist being a bitch lol.
