Serious question about an upcoming dance -
10-14-2005, 07:19 PM
Ok well, my first school dance is on December 1st, and I'm thinking about what I should wear, I'm supposed to wear something nice, but if I do that, I'm not gonna do as well when bboyin (just the way I am). So what do you think I should do? Wear something nice? Or should I wear what I do my best dancin in?

besides, its a thing of fashion or practicality....ive gone to prom n ran outta the building to put on my sneakers in my car n walked right back in. some snickers all around until i started dancing.. |

if you have to dress up, don't bboy. you dont have to break everywhere you go, and some times are just inappropriate for it.

yeah I agree with pres, its hard to resist but you don't have to bboy. It ain't a battle. Look at all those non bboys.
If you do, do flares or handhops or something clean where only your hands touch the floor. That way you don't have to worry about scuffing up your nice shoes, messing up your hair, or getting majorly sweaty. |

VP - good point about don't have to break everywhere.
It's things like this that make me tell people to come to practice in the kind of clothes they usually wear when out and about. If you dress really bummy and comfy for training, but always dress up going out you'll never be able to dance at your best. I wear jeans to train because it's usually what I have on going out. There's no real reason not to be able to break in a suit. I've done it before. The shoes are the only thing that could cause problems, that and pants that rip on the crotch if they are a bit too tight. |

A bboy without style, is like a broken pencil.
There's just no point. |

Yeah, sometimes theres times when bboying isn't really nessecary. But I usually like breaking everywhere I go, though. Good luck with the dance.
