all break no work.. -
04-10-2005, 09:00 AM
I have something to put to all you big-time and small-time breakers.. not sure whether it's been discussed, but how do you balance work with breaking?
Im pretty new to breaking in comparison to a lot of you, just under a year now, and I'm really into it, however I'm 15 and I'm just about to take the most important exams that I'll ever take, and I just find myself breaking instead of revising.. You peepz got any ideas how to balance it? Any suggestions or ways to stay good at breaking but cutting down lots on practise? cheerz |

Good luck trying to balance the two. I just had mid term exams for our final year of school and i barely studied because all i could think about and do was break.
If you want to balance, a schedule is the best way to go. Make a plan and stick to it, where you have an hour of breaking and about 3 hours of study or whatever. However if you're like me and have avoidance behaviour so developed you don't even notice that you're procrastinating, then you should just cut breaking out totally for the duration of the exams period. After all you can always come back to things and pick up again, you probably won't have forgotten that much. I'd say the plan should be your first choice, if that doesn't work go for the latter. Good luck with your exams man, Peace |

yes there r other threads like this, but i will tell u wat u hve to know here.
U are 15 therefore u r in either 9th or 10th grade, both of these years are important because(if u r following MYP) ur IB years are next which determines which college u go to and how your life will be. At this point of time in your life u need to study and I'm sorry to say, u need to cut down your breakin time by a lot. Your time of study should always be more than breaking or it should be the same. Breaking isnt going to really help u as much as school will(unless your idol is Mike Garcia). So please, please study and live a good life. I am not saying stop breaking i am just saying chop your breaking time down, by a'lot. Study, it is the most important thing in your life! Shape your life the way you want it! work hard! peace |

exactly, u do not have to bboy every single day. take a break and focus on studying for the test.
U know instead of making this thread which u will obviously waste time on checking, u should have just started to study when u were making it. ![]() |

... unless you're going to a community college, which isn't something i would really suggest doing unless you're low on cash. I gave up breakin' for actually 3 years to get my butt in gear -- graduated high school with a 4.33 GPA while still attending school clubs, and varsity positions on sports teams. Now that i'm in a prominent University, I got back into breakin' with some time management. Regardless, the schedule at a University especially at the Engineering department is almost ludicrous, there's still some room made for breakin' though -- and atleast i'm actually in college now. Seriously though, it's unrealistic to live off being a breaker forever, education and brain power is far more important. Know where your priorities are. Afterall, you only have this life to live, think of the long run. |

Start revising now, for about 1-2 hours a day for one week, next week do 2 hours and the week after do 2-3 hours etc and thats how you build up the focus on getting lots of revision done but be warned it can bust your brain. |
