Okay - the best way to learn mills is NOT by learning to handglide first.
Learn BACKSPINS using the NECKMOVE method first. This is sometimes referred to as the "New York Backspin" - it's the traditional way to backspin and it's the move that the windmill came from. If it helps - it's the backspin method where you DON'T start by sitting down on the floor and kicking into it (referred to as the split-kick method or the california backspin) In answer to your question though, handglides come from a move called a FLOAT. Many moves are now referred to as "floats" - but a float is also the name of a move. Go to the FLOATS board in the moves section of this site and look for a handglide guide in there. In brief you'll be facing the floor holding your weight on one arm (head and feet off the floor) using the other hand to push you in a circle. |

If that's the case, explain to me how everyone I've seen learning mills from handglide position takes longer to get the move, and looks a million times more awkward getting into it than people who learn neckmoves and real backspins first.
Also explain how it's so wrong to do it that way since 1> That's the way the move was invented. 2> That way you have moves that are more easilly combined giving you around 8 combo possibilities from the word go, and another few only a small amount of work away. |

I dunno I neva heard of a protocol....maybe certain things work for most but not everyone. The kids I used to teach learnt in a short time. I can't mill myself but I did step their training so they got stronger in the arms before they attempted mills. Worked different for different ppl. I was flexible in my approach!
