Do you have moves that go in opposite directions? - 07-20-2004, 06:30 AM

Well the guy that got me into breakin taught me to do flares in ccw and mill in cw (altough i cant flare yet)

i want my flare to go the same way as my mills (mainly because everything else goes cw, turtles, footwork and everything) but it feels so wierd trying to flarr in the other direction. I tried to fix it before but i just kept landing on my ass and i stopped trying. But now i wanna try again.

Is it alright to have moves go in different directions? cuz it will suk for me because im learning air flares in cw, and i would love to have a mill, flare, air flare combo

man u have no idea how much stress i feel cause of the same problem u have. my footwork goes ccw, millz cw, flares ccw, 90's ccw....thats all for now...o and i do stabbed freezes and stuff using my right arm. this whole thing screws up everythin cause i cant link anythin up. my original idea was to change my millz but then i got my footwork goin wrong way so its all.....arg screwed up.

so yea its fine to have moves goin other directions but its best to remember that if u are gonna change to just one direction change the direction with the easier moves so u dont have to go through a whole lot of shit tryna get em again.

im used to everything goin cw, just my flare goes ccw. It feels really awkward trying it cw

at least you can link a flare to 90. My 90 goes cw

its good to have moves both ways but one side will always be stronger unless when you learn a move you immediately practice it both ways at the same pace...

you should learn everything the same way at first because you wont be able to link shit like someone mentioned before...

I used to do my ninetys opposite everything else, they were clockwise and all other shit ccw so I stopped practicing them that way and started over cw...

I'd say start practicing everything in one direction

i try to practice everything in both directions so long as it doesn't kill me

there are things like flares ( no... i don't have them , i suck at them but practice them no matter) and mills where i actually knock bones out of place on my bad side , so that's something to factor in
but i try to keep my footwork as ambidextrous as possible so that i can at least have some decent transitions in between so long as i switch footwork directions

one thing i've found that actually helps a bunch is to just stand up and turn in the direction that's hard for me ... spin around and around and around for a while
kind of winds up your brain in the direction you want to work on

you must have been a bgirl.... because the only moves that you pulled on me were heartbreakers

Another thing is with my half twists and gainer fulls and stuff

twisting cw is more comfortable for me when im flipping, but i gainer with my right foot going up first and in order to gainer full ill need to go ccw. Its hard for me to twist ccw

i first learned mills cw and flares ccw. but now i can flare cw too, not as good as i can ccw though, but it'll get better over time. i decided to learn flares this way so i could eventually get flare mill combo.

check my video guide in the Flare section of the Move Guides forum.

try to change your flare direction, it will be easier for you now(if you don't have it yet) and you should learn footwork both ways

my mills were opposite to headspin but i fixed that

i can go both ways with headspin but its more comfortable going ccw. I keep landing on my ass with my flare im almost to the same point where i am with my ccw flare. My footwork can go both ways but i dont really tend to change directions but i can go both ways
