Making Clips using Webcam?

Since I really feel like n00b battling to get some more experience now that I've got some basic toprock/footwork down I need to find a good way to make clips. Does anyone here know a good way to record streaming video using a webcamera, and no, please don't give me a shareware program that has wierd restrictions. If not I guess i'll have to go buy something else, very expensive here in Shanghai (i usually live in LA but i'm on vacation for a few months).
