Im not sure but I've been playing thsi game fora while and it seems to have improven my footwork a lot and etc. If you improve you footwork you can improve your game skills. Anybody got any comments?

There are always some threads about DDR. Never played it, so I don't know if it could help your footwork or not. Seems interesting enough.

you get down on your hands and play as if your doin footwork?

for one, the game doesn't teach you rhythm, it teaches you to push a button when a light comes on (the arrow when it gets to the top)

it seems like a DdR thread appears every month or so...but yes..DdR is kinda fun...until u start playing heavy, then it just starts to look stupiD...

i dont think ive commented on this before but... i like the idea... im not good at it.. never tried.... but i;d rather just dance by my self.. w/o all the lights

actually 4 me it tought me rhythm and how to follow the muzik. i use to play it untill i got into bboyin.

ddr juz now gettin hot here in huntsville wen i finally quit. figures, i wuznt dat good anyway.

DDR ... we have one at the local mall .
hating aside , this game is pretty fun . no , it can't really be considered as dancing , but you know , it is a GAME , it's just for entertainment , so take it lightly . let's say , it's something like arcade games with guns . yeah you take a toy gun and start shooting thing on screen - you obviously know it's not real shooting and it doesn't have anything to do with it .

about improving your footwork , well .... i don't have scientific proofs , but i can figure it does develeop your coordination so the logic tells it might have something to do with footwork . just not much .

im too good at DDR i beat everyone that i played but i just play it a lil now i mostly am on computer helpin people and when im at the mall i usually go for clothes now

Yeah, i rule at DDR too, but don't play that much anymore (just out of curiosity WRX_Breaker,exactly how good are you? [CANT STOP FALLIN' IN LOVE -SPEED MIX- rules!])
Anyway, yea i guess it might improve your footwork a little. But what it really does is build up your leg endurance. I used to play 24/7 and now all my friends ask me why I don't break a sweat (literally) doing Max 300 heavy for my first song. (I can get a AA on that too!) That game is really not even dancing. It doesn't even really look cool, but its REALLY fun.

DDR is a dance. I don't even play DDR at the mall, just at my house when my friends are over. It has all the elements of a dance. To say that DDR doesn't involve dancing is ridiculously puritan, and not far off from saying that african americans or people with birth deffects aren't real humans.

I used to do a lot of DDR Freestyling back in the day...but then I stopped for an unknown reason. Actually, I went back last friday...only real dancy thing I did was Crip-walk to some doubles. People can't get enough of that. lol.

I'm not one to play it on like, 10 footers...highest I can do is around 8, depending on what it's weighted on, maybe 9.

To say DDR has no rhythm is like saying bboying has no rhythm. Just because when you start out, you don't dance to the music, doesn't mean you never do. These patterns of arrows are on beat, for the most part....until it gets to like, Heavy, then on a lot of songs it's just slamming on the arrows.

Personally, I think anyone who does DDR without the aid of the bar is dancing...crappy or not, they are dancing. Even on maniac, where their feet are going crazy. Ever heard of tap dancing? Same sort of concept. Just because it goes fast, doesn't make it any different from going slow.

Footwork: I got the impression he meant it improved his toprock, which is what I think of footwork as...which it has more than enough potential to improve. As for floorwork, which is what I call what most people refer to as footwork, it is technically possible to improve, although I think of it as more of a "You get good footwork, THEN use it on DDR" as opposed to practicing on it. I used quite a bit before, mainly switches, pompo, and at one time I did crickets...but that was a long time off.
