Cool My First Performance! - 03-26-2004, 04:08 AM

Hey guys!

Yesturday was my very first time that i breakdanced in front of a hugh crowd. I just need 2 tell some1, u know? Cuz ive been breaking for a year now and i was gaining experience all this time. Breakdance at my sessions is 1 thing and breakdance in front of a crowd in real life is another. Neways, yesturady we had a school disco late in the evening, DJs were there and tons of ppl (about 200 ppl inside the place, 100 ppl in the crowd). Most ppl were older than me, cuz i am now in 4th year Secondary (9th grade) and 15 years old, but ur allowed into the disco from 4th to 7th year Secondary (12th grade) only. Anyway, i was dancing in the crowd with my friends and i suddenly glimpsed a guy (2 or 3 years older than me) who was popping. I waved 2 him and i showed some of my popping techniques. So we started a "friendly" popping battle. Ppl started staring at us while we were doing armwaves, bodywaves, etc. After we finished, he came up 2 me and asked me about how long i train, what i can do and all that stuff. I told him that I practice sometimes and that i breakdance. Then he told me 2 show my breakdance. Instantly, the crowd made a circle (quite a small 1 though, cuz many ppl were in the crowd and it was damn dense) and i started. I was amazed that when i started breaking there, i was not even slightly nervous, although many ppl were watching me! I first did my toprocks wit style and tons of clean footwork, then I did two freezes at the end. I first thought: whats so interesting about some footwork and two freezes? But to my surprise, ppl (my age and older) were howling and clapping like mad! shouting things like "way to go" and "awsome, man" and showed thumbs up! When i ended my little sample of breakdance ppl started coming up 2 me and telling me that my breakdance is awsome. I couldve dont some better things like solar eclipses of windmillz, but there was just no room for them in thst tiny circle! Neways, that was my very first experience in breaking in front of a large crowd and i am happy! I just needed 2 tell some1 about it. Thanx ppl for taking ur time 2 read this. Peace

Good job! Doesn't it make you feel alive when the crowd is watching? Sessions for me are just sessions... practice, but in the midst of a whole crowd, I shine. Performing is where it's at, my friend! Get used to it, because it will enhance your dancing exponentially!

Good luck to you in the future!

BTW, if you live anywhere in the Northwest, give me a PM, we'll practice and session together - I always welcome bboys who want to excel themselves in their dancing.

Engyn.

The important thing is... is that at anytime we can sacrifice what we are now for what we can become.

True or False: 'Dance like noone's watching'?

Lol, actually i live in Belgium, Europe. But really, that experience really made me feel alive, unlike ever before! I noticed that I was breaking before just for fun and practice, but now, unexpectedly, it came 2 a part were i am now in the public! "If you do what you truely like, you will achieve great results in that area." A nice philosophical statement lol! Peace

Dangit, eh? LOL, I'm over in the U.S.

Anywho, if you end up going to the U.S., hit me up!

I just thought of the time when I was kicked out of the mall for dancing in the food court... ahhh! Oh well, I got a kick out of it!

Yeah I'm glad you had a good experience; nothing worse than bad b-boy stories on here.

Lol thanx guys! U know, for the first 2 days, i was thinking over and over again: "Oh my god, i really did it, didnt i?" Now my dudes r phoning me up and telling me that i breakdance amazing! It reminds me of clips like Sean Paul's and stuff where people in the middle of a disco move out and a breaker does footwork and s**t in the middle. But i it was good that i finally had a such an experience. Thanx a lot ppl for taking ur time 2 read my story and giving comments! I really needed 2 tell some1 about this! Peace

hey but maybe it's a GOOD thing ya didn' break out your windmillz and solar eclipse..cause for the next dance you can just do it..then people may give you even MORE respect then you gettin right now..

btw...excellent job..
we all like to hear what happens to our fellow bboys/bgirls

break what you can...break LIKE you can

It's gonna burn for me to say this
But it's comin from my heart
It's been a long time coming
But we done been fell apart
Really wanna work this out
But I don't think you're gonna change
I do but you don't
Think it's best we go our separate ways
Tell me why I should stay in this relationship
When I'm hurting baby, I ain't happy baby
Plus theres so many other things I gotta deal with
I think that you should let it burn

When your feeling ain't the same and your body don't want to
But you know gotta let it go cuz the party ain't jumpin' like it used to
Even though this might ruin you
Let it burn
Let it burn
Gotta let it burn

Vin Diesel and the Internet - relation? I THINK SO

Vin Diesel invented the internet while trying to steal cable TV.

Contrary to popular belief, it was in fact Vin Diesel who invented the internet. Al Gore stole the designs when Vin fell asleep at his keyboard.

Hahahaha! Thanx guys! I actually think that it was also good that i didnt do my hardcore powermovez there: ill have a hotter arsenal for next time lol! By the way, bboyarfen, if i busted my millz out there in the crowd, then I would probably knock at least 3 ppl outta their shins, and that would not be 2 nice, would it? lol. U know, after that experience, i happen 2 not 2 feel the same again. I cant explain that feeling. Its as if i am older and greater now lol or sth like that. Did that happen 2 any1 of u ppl? Peace
