i wear whatever don't smell....

I just wear jeans i got wholesale somewhere lol no clue mostly. I have a few "name-brand" stuff people bought for me as presents and stuff most of the clothes i buy for myself is white Ts, Other colored Plain Ts and just Wholesale sweats/jeans. I have like 2 Old navy hoodies too for when it cold.

There really isnt a way you should dress this topic has been done many many times its whatever is comfortable, if i can afford it and it will last long for me without making me feel uncomfortable i will wear it. Now if anyone says why don't i just go out in boxers then i don't like that breeze

Oh man...
Please don't look to the "bling bling allstars" as an example of hiphop culture.

It ain't about rocks. It's about rocking.

As I see it, the only compulsary thing about hiphop is that you gotta have your own style.
Watever form of rocking you get into, wether it's bboying, writing, rhyming or djing, you gotta do your shit your way.
There's the basic foundations and comulsoraries of every area, but you gotta use them your own way.

Don't go trying to look like a rapper, if you ain't a rapper.
And even if you are, then don't go trying to look like rappers, dress in what you feel comfortable and look your best in.

Forget jewels. What do jewels say?
They say "I've got money - come and rob me!" - Keep that out of it.

The culture is about rocking as hard as you can, your own way.

Remember that and you're cool.

The traditional pillars of the culture being... writing, bboying, djing beatboxing and rhyming...
The fashion aspect, well that kinda varies from pillar to pillar. You see a bboy is all about looking good, but you gotta be able to dance in it. And you can't dance in timberlands, big rings and a huge jacket.
A bboy will usually be rocking something like jeans they can move in, stylish but lightweight kicks (fat laces - pure bboy style) and usually a jacket or jumper they can spin in.

Writers on the other hand are gonna be rocking darker clothes. You don't want to be too visible when you're out rocking the spray cans.
You can't run fast if you look like a rapper.
You're gonna get cold if you look like a bboy.

Know what I mean.
Just dress right for what you do, dress in shit that suits you, and most importantly, dress in your own style and look good.

Rock it.

A bboy without style, is like a broken pencil.

There's just no point.

Haha !! - 01-21-2004, 12:59 AM

hahahaha, Ok peeps, you really made me laught....haha...ok, my own style, I usually dress to go out with jeans and a shirt with buttons (can't spell), or with t-shirt with neck (can't spell, bear with me), when I practice my bboyin', I used to dress this HUGE pants I have, that are like 2 sizes bigger than mine, but I looked bad and I was not confortable, now I use my normal nike pants, with a t-shirt that fits the bill (lol).

For the jewels aspect...well....what can I say....as u said....it's all bout style....I have this thing that I love when I see shirts like mines with a chromed with gray colors wath and when I see chromed rings, and all that shit.....all bout style, haha, lol

Ok, see ya, and thanks

well i would have to say that its not what u wear that makes the hip-hop culture its everything u do, the people that love it make it, i certainly dont dress like a rapper but more like a preppy, i love music and bboyin, i used too dj with some buddys a while ago and thats how i got into the culture and got a love for it, also the people that ive met have influenced the way live and have givin me a different perspective in hip-hop. u are the ones who develope and made the culture it is today and its still being changed and shaped. but for me i dont try to fit in cause i do fit in whether or not i dress the way people think i should dress. either way im still part of the culture for i got love for it and anyone who is part of it.

word out breakers and dance with mind

man, you've got so much to learn...

lesson 1, dont go to see 'you got served'

lesson 2, find a real bboy and let him explain to you what hip hop is about

OR

watch 'the freshest kids' and get an idea of how wrong you are

there really is no need to tell him not to go see that movie erock... it might spark him a little bit more interest to follow through and actually get involved in dancing. Dictating to people exactly what HAS to be done isn't going to help much.

Not saying I don't mistakenly do it myself, cause I'm a frikin idoit

I would recommend "freshest kids" though or meeting someone who is really involved not someone who just seems involved(meeting a real criminal, won't get you anywhere other then mugged/raped/laughed at/etc. one of those things), but someone who is more involved them me or 99% of this website. Because I have serious doubts of you meeting someone who is so deep inside of it, coming online to a forum to talk about their lifestyle. But you could get lucky i guess.

Few people on this site know what they are talking about (not me unfortunately), if you choose to stick around and actually doing something that you didn't see on TV you will most likely know their names as you go. If all that interested you was girls, rocks, and clothing style then i would suggest you get rid of those thoughts, theres a huge chance you aren't going anywhere...

Ok peeps.... - 01-22-2004, 01:12 AM

Ok...here we go again.....peeps, chill out, It seems like almost non of yo'all got my idea, I just wanted to ASK if u LIKED to dress LIKE in the mainstream Hip-Hop vids and if u did, how was it??, that's all, I mean, it's not that I just think that this culture is bout hoes, bitches, neggers, cars, rocks, weed, etc. it's just that I like the pimp up on the rapper on their vids, you know, how they dress with chromed stuff and the style they use, I like that dressing, and I NEVER thought that this culture was only bout hoes and all that, It just makes me laught when I hear it, I actually don't have a lotta clothes, the 60% are pants, I just got one jeans and some shirts and well dressing t-shirts, and I like to combine em to the level I am "pimpin up" and when I see that I got a good lookin', I just fix it up a little bit with jewels (all from my daddy, except for my beautiful Omega watch ) and I make my haircut, I put on all my stuff and I go out, when I break I always do it with jeans and a t-shirt nike or whatever, with my hat (It's cold ), now, WHY DA HELL CAN'T I GO TO SEE "YOU GOT SERVED" ?!?!?!?! and I will rent that movie "freashest kids" (or somethin') if I find it.....

Got it??? you got everythin' the wrongest way ever, just chill out and don't make me feel bad , haha, lol, so just keep bboyin', and other thing, you tell me I gotta have style in my clothing....I'm the only one within my friends that wear jewels and a hat or a cap when I'm out, that's waht describes me, my style, they say I "50 Cent me up" like in the P.I.M.P. vid, cuz I look like 'em, (they don't know the word "pimp up" sorry, it's Mexico) and other thing that makes me to express myself is from my rhymes, I do a little bit of 'em just when I'm sad, or really depressed (the best moment) and that's how I express myslef, now, bout breakdance, I started cuz I've always being impressioned by all the guys doin' it, so I got my chance and I never give up on anything I want and that is available....

There's my story...so...don't tell me what to see/not see, what to wear/not wear, what to be/not be, how to see this like/not like, etc. cuz as you see, I got style, from my clothes to my rhymes, from my dance to my clothing style...that was what you mean't ain't??? you said...it's your own style...takes me like 1 hour to get dressed to go out, why??? cuz I got little amount of clothes and I gotta combine 'em to make it look new/cool/super/impressive/different/hardcore/ etc., as you said....all bout style...

Peace

1> You say "Pimp" like it's a good thing. If you wanna dress in jewels and shit, that's your decision. Personally I think people look pretty stupid in all that gear, but that's beside the point.

You may hear people like "50 Cent" rapping about being a pimp like it's a cool thing to be, but in reality, Pimps are the scum of the planet. Simple as that.
You really shouldn't aspire to being like them.

2> You'll hear a lot of rappers talking "nigger this, nigger that, nigger the other..." Now listen, that word is one that was born out of hatred. I've heard a lot of Mexicans using it as a simple frame of reference to themselves, a friend or whatever.
That's no good.

If you started talking like that in front of the wrong person, chances are they'd kill you.

I absoilutely hate hearing anyone use that word no matter WHAT race they are.

Ok, once again - 01-22-2004, 03:48 PM

You peeps still get everything wrong:
1. I said that I dressed like 'em cuz of my jewels, I'm not like a christmas tree with a 1000 jewels on my, I only get a ring, my watch and a necklace and some things that I can wear on my clothes, NEVER dress like in that vid. I don't wear pink clotheas and stuff like that.

2.I NEVER said I liked to pe a "pimp", I know it's a really bad shit, and If I wanna be like an attractor to girls I would call myself "player" or just a really lucky guy, they call me like that cuz I look "like" 'em, not more and less...yeah...cuz I don't wear all that fuckin' gay clothes like 'em.

3.Bout the "N" word, I say it, I do, but I only say it with my "intelligent" friends, so they don't take it wrong, I've never said "nigger" to an American, cuz I am not an idiot to get my ass shot one day.

Get it??? or still get everything wrong???

If english is your 2nd language, then theres a language barrier here and the rest of us can stop analyzing every single letter that he types. Cause i know how hard english is to understand, took me like 5-6 years to learn to speak it fluently and most likely ppl gonna say i got a slur or whatever. English aint as easy to learn as some would like to believe, its much much different then learning a european language (other then english of course --'' non-americainized) or an asian language.

So if it is (and it seems to be) that english isn't his first language just backoff him for getting his thoughts out the wrong way. But i really don't know him so whatever.
