as long as u BBOY n add shit, its one thing, but to not do anything but tricks n freakish poses lol....ie...boty...is different

Dont bite the hand that feeds u, eventually everyone helping u will get annoyed...jesus.

Beginners giving beginners tips without understanding what they are saying is probally one of the worst ways to spread KNOWLEDGE.....which is the key to anything in life.

I for one am new to breakdancing. I got into it because I was flexible. I didn't even know there were flexible bboys when I started. It's nice to know now, but I don't learn much from them. I feel a lot of the flexible bboys I've seen rely too much on their flexibility. It's not breakdancing it's just more performing. Flexibility was what all my beginning stuff was pretty much, and why I want to learn more, cause I don't like it. The other issue with this is originality. Flexibility isn't something every one is gifted with. Bboys should use that to make moves that have never been done, sadly all the flexible moves I've seen bboys do, I've seen others do. (throwing their leg behind their head). I'm not bashing them here, hell I'm new like I said so they can break better then me hands down, I'm just saying it's too bad to see something that could be one of a kind turn into something that is just slightly different.
Punk bboys that I know of are all modern kids/emo kids. As in they call it punk but it's not. They listen to NOFX, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, and that bunk. But real punk bands like The Meat Men, Cockney Rejects, and the Bad Brains are unheard of to them. This causes to issues for me, they say they are punks when they are not, and they call them self's dancers but still say they are bboys. Most of their styles that I've seen were pretty much glow sticking without the glow sticks.
The current videos being put out, featured on youtube, and all that are different. It's nice to see but soon it will louse it's originality when someone sees a move that is never done then learns it. I feel that it is not about the moves but how they are done. As moves are lousing their originality, styles are always new. Some of the bboys out there seem repetitive, but their are also a lot out their that do moves that are always done, but their way of doing them is out of this world. Another thing is oldschool tricks are dead. There are alot of old tricks that arnt jusr rare any more, but are never used. This is good because oldschool can be brought back, but as newschool. Moves that have been done but many people have never seen.
So their are some issues in breaking today, but the way to fix all most all them is a 100% guaranteed original style. That is one thing I see growing that is not a problem, but a solution.

Wow. first of all, i'm amazed at the type of discussions that used to go on on these forums back in 2003. it makes you realize how much the topics and discussions nowadays have degraded to one liners and off topic spam.

THIS IS THE KIND OF SHIT THAT SHOULD BE ON THESE FORUMS!!!
intelligent discussion about bboying and hip hop culture. it's like i'm in heaven!

but back on topic...
there ARE trends in the bboying scene. what i've seen recently is the growing population of internet bboys and bboys teaching themselves because there is no one in their area to teach them. except for the internet. that's why it's so important for forums like these to be informational and guide beginners in the right direction. there aren't very many online bboy forums. the big ones are like.. bboyworld, bboyzone (i think? idunno, i don't go there, but i hear things), freestyle session, and bboy.org. at the moment, bboy.org is looked at as a joke. we gotta fix that shit, guys. have pride in the forums that brought you up. it brought me up, at least. quit the spamming and the newb shit, and get intelligent. the internet is a HUGE source of knowledge, so take advantage of it.

the internet is a great way to get a start in bboying, but it will only take you so far. actually, it won't take you very far at all. you're not gonna understand the culture, much less get dope, unless you get into your scene.

as for powermoves, it's stupid to generalize power as not being part of the dance. of course it's part of the dance. moves like flares, mills, airtracks, headspins, jackhammers, etc. are ALL part of the foundation of the dance!! people don't realize that because it's power, but if you saw those moves, it would be like: so what? no creativity, right? bboying is all about STYLE... you gotta take the moves that are there and turn them into your own. do something different. that's what impresses bboy crowds.

btw, 100% original style would be wack because it would look completely random and out of place. you still need to know the foundation and base your originality from there, otherwise you're not bboying.

the thing is, we've discussed about almost... everything already.. we can't think about anything else to discuss except minor shit or shit that has already been discussed 1000x times

but it IS nice to discuss about stuff that has already been discussed for new people on the forums

agreed, btw... bboy.org has been talkin about the most wierdest topics that don't even remotely relate to bboying (ill admit that I do join some of them, lol)... infact, i got a decent topic to talk about
