I'll put in my 2cents I also teach a class but its in Ohio, but any ways First off what are the ages of ur students and what are u teaching them so far? As for the teaching part make sure they all have a good foundation of all the basics down and good. dont rush through the moves. get some videos for your class to watch so they can see different bboy jams

Breaking can be whatever you want it to be. If you want it
to be the original, structured dance that it was 20 years ago,
then it can be that for you. If you want it to be your own
limitless form of expression, it can be that for you.
The world will never agree on what exactly Breaking is...
and if the world ever does agree, then I guess I won't be Breaking anymore.

if you know what you're doing, why not help other people out? they wont be copying your style, they hafta find that for themselves...so they'd be learning basic footwork, power, and freezes pretty much and develop their own style cuz its impossible to teach style. i taught myself, and sure i'm proud that i did it and all that, but i almost definitely would have learned faster if i had someone helpin me out...and i know that all bboys, at least when they started, wished that they could get into a class

Teach yourself? Thats retarded, why would you teach yourself when someone could show you the proper way to do things?

Teaching yourself should be a last resort, there is nothing wrong with getting taught, and nohting to brag about if you teach yourself.

I teach classes just for a way to help those with out the resources or knowledgs to teach themselves

that would never happen. hypothetical situations, such as that, are stupid.

your obviously not thinking before your speaking

what if you moved into a new house..difrent state..and you didnt have your cable hooked up..or there was a problem..and it was even longer

maybe its reaching...but the statement you made was almost non sequitor.."classes are a waste of time. teach yourself. LIKE A MAN. "

think about it..before you try to argue a weak statement

If you jus moved and were waiting for your cable, you'd wait a week or whatever before you started...lol

But yeah man, that's not a hypothetical situation......back in the day, when I started breakin' the first time, I had no internet, and there was hardly any on TV....so I took the little bits I DID see to heart......I burned their images into my head. (If only I didn't burn airflares into my head, then I wouldn't've been an 80 lb kid trying airflares, then winding up in a wheelchair. lol) But no, I still didn't go to a class......Nothing wrong with that tho, jus didn't wanna spend the money.....the way I see it, if you want a sense of satisfaction from teaching yourself, take up popping. You can't make any horrible time-consuming errors there. If you try flares the wrong way, then become accustomed to that mistake, it'll take a lot longer to learn 'em right.

And damn, that was kinda all over the place.

Peace.

When some one's throwin' punches, it won't make a difference whether or not you can windmill, or hit a clean tutting angle.
