So who remembers me? (Long, Read) - 11-06-2003, 10:53 PM

Who here remembers me?

Having some trouble?

http://www.bboy.org/forums/showthrea...threadid=36399

How about now?

Some of you old timers might remember me.

Well, I thought I'd give yall an update!!! So here goes!

I'm 185 lbs now and in pretty good shape I like to say. I've given up on break dancing, sadly, but recently I've had a new revelation in my life.

Now, I like to bust out to hip hop and what not, just because I prefer it to anything. Thing is, I don't do it the way most people would expect an average 17 year old (i turned 17 Oct 2, btw).

You read about my little "c-walk" journey. I admit now that it's not as fun as it used to be because the stigma of doing a "gang related" activity has all but remained. I bust it out all the god damn time, and I taught my best friend it. Here's the part that gets me though. My best friend taught another mutual friend of ours, and they're both on the Color Gaurd, a group at school that performs skits during peprallys and cheers on the football team during games with flags and what not. Now, this second friends knows just about everyone... along with my best friend. Long story short, after teaching my friend the crip walk, he asked the head of the Color Gaurd if they could do something with it, and at our first pep rally at the very end the whole Color Gaurd lined up in a row and busted out the crip walk. From then on out, everyone at my school started to bust C's. Oh god.. I hate it.

Now, it's not that I don't enjoy doing it anymore, it's just that I hate conformity in extracurricular activities. Not clothes or anything, I prefer to conform to that so people will notice (im superficial, i'm sorry). A few years ago, I started to pop and box... within a few months the "raver" scene exploded and everyone was raving. They had little battles on this stage in the courtyard at school during lunches. I immediately ceased to dance, because I want my activities to be unique.

So I thought, what's something that gets the girls wet (not literally), attracts attention when I want it, is unique for the most part, and is pretty good excercise.

The answer clicked in my head a few times, but just recently I decided to take action.

The answer?

Dancing to hip hop, but we're not talking about six steps, windmills, or flares.

I'm talking about learning choreographed moves, and implementing them into regular dance.

How?

One word. Usher.

Sounds gay, I know, spare the flames. Thing is, I downloaded a music video of his and I watched him go at it, and my god this man can dance like a maniac. Upon more research I learned a good portion of his moves are based off Michael Jackson. Sweet! I've always wanted to dance like that guy!

As I return to these boards, I think to myself, what am I doing this for, and are my goals accomplishable.

I want to bust moves like Usher for three reasons. Namely, because I'm a kid and im very horny (hey, im honest), if I'm ever in a situation where dancing is key, the amount my ego would be boosted while busting a few of these moves would be insane... and guess what I read. Girls will notice a guy ALOT more if he's on the dance floor instead of just sitting on the side... even if he sucks at dancing!!! So if I'm good at it, mmmmm!!! (please dont refute, i'm just talking here)

Second, I just want to know how to dance.

Third, the aerobic exercise is insane! I wonder how long it'd take to get into shape with this. If crip walking helped me so much, I wonder how far Usher can take me!

I'll be posting up with questions on a few of the breaking moves he does (namely the sideslide, god damn, i never knew how hard this was). If you have any questions or comments or can give me some help, message me on AIM. My SN is Br3akTheLaw.

Thanks guys and gals!!

Dancing to hip hop music as you say is called hip hop dancing. Just to let you know, young bboys don't be confused "hip hop" dancing is a name and has nothing to do with hip hop like bboying does.
