Breakers are Descriminated Against -

This may sound like i'm bitching and whining but read the story first...
Me and my buddy wanted to start a breakin' club at school so that we could practise, teach and battle people.... So we had to get 10 signatures... so we did... then we had to get a teacher to support us... so we did... then we had to fill out a form they didn't have yet...so 2 weeks later they call us to the office and he asks me "So what style of dance are you doing exactly?".. I said "Breakdancing and Popping and locking"... he says "What's popping and locking?" I say "Basically Michael Jackson type dance... He goes "Oh.. okay... well we have a few concerns... we're concerned about safety... if there were to be a club you would not be able to spin on your shoulders or above..." so I said "Oh, well the boxing club can punch each other in the face, the wrestlers can piledrive each other into the matt but no no no... don't spin on your shoulders, that's dangerous.." he says "Well we just don't want students taking unnecessarily high risks..." I says "Well we could dress in hockey equiptment and try to break but it's not gonna do anything, you fall wrong in any sport and you can hurt yourself, not just this sport..."... So he goes "Well we're also concerned about your clothing and the suggestive themes your group will give off...".. So basically he says in a sugar coated manner "Well fuck now I got a real problem, I got those hoodlums with the baggy pants wanting to graffitti our gym. What excuse can I make to make it so they can't?" ... So he says "Well I would like someone who has done this a lot and knows what there doing to be there"... he knows damn right when it comes to breakin' we are in buttfuck nowhere... heheh, but then I heard about this cool gym teacher that was able to break... so I asked him and he says if I write a letter saying why I want to make the club he'll help us out... heheh, I can't wait to see the old fuck just go nuts.... He does not want this to happen and its going to, even if I gotta go to the school board and get him in shit for discriminating against us, I don't give a shit... even the teacher that supports our group thinks he's being discriminative... so lets see what happens! |

whoever you were talking to was ignorant...
our teachers loved it when we danced in the gym. my friends still b-boy during lunch(in the gym) and they all love it. they said they actually give tips...ahaha. i wish i could go back to highschool... |

the gym coaches told me to stop cuz it was too dangerous but i don blame em, they dunno much
as for the principle, he hasn't said much of nething, cuz our skool don have too many bboyz and bgirlz so you barely see it, i'm probably the only person at our skool who breakz at skool for at least 10 minutes at least once a week |

my principal didnt say crap at our school but probably cause he was a hiphop head back in the day, he pretty cool. Same with our student activities director or whatever they call it.

dont sweat your balls over it kid...thats life its not a school sanctioned activity and is not popular, and academic administration would like less problems to deal with, such as injuries and liability. you might say "oh snap, me an my boys will never get injured" but that doesnt matter, theres always liability. just relax and take some time away from the computer to practice to make up for the time you would be dancing at school. ive been on forums way too long and ive read this helpless little plight 80 millions of times. live with it. dont slit your wrists, now. OH yeah, i laughed when i read "breakers are discriminated against". please... |

bboys are discriminated against...at some levels but considering a lot of u are biased n discriminate against others i doubt it means much...
ive had plenty of clubs n ive also had plenty of places that dont allow it right away, u need teachers who can stay with you n everything. they have codes they have to meet as well as liability they dont wanna deal wit...its a lot for a school or anywhere rather, to deal wit. |

J-man, i read ur story...ya he sounds like a dick but thats all things they have to take into consideration n u may not like it but all the things u mentioned are school sanctioned n society accepted...not only that but they have very strict guidlines about that as well, like having someone there who knows whats going on
n i dont think most of the people on this site should bitch about being shit on for bboyin when all ive seen lately is them shitting on others...lol im not saying u are randy or u jman, im saying in general the site is sickening...hating on people n jumpin on them n judging them then gettin pissy when it happens to them put things in perspective n jump in someone elses shoes or understand things before making snap judgments |

Don't take it so seariously if your school won't allow you to break there. Besides, there's many different places to practice breaking, and you can always start a breaking club when you reach College, which might be a lot easier then doing so while in High School.
