Alot a Breakers master the art of Powermoves and Freezes. A few know the basic Poplocking and Electric Boogie.
Quoting from The Freshest Kids DVD
“If you can’t dance to the beat, you ain’t no b-boy” Ken Swift - Rock Steady Crew
I personally agree. Yet most Breakers can't dance or feal the beat! Breaking started with dancing and later powermoves where added!
Being able 2 dance does NOT make you a b-boy!
Yet ONE of the skillz a b-boy has 2 master is DANCING!
Do you agree?

yeah i kinnda agree and i kinda dont but oh well if you cant dance to the beat well your kinda off rhythm since youll look kinda corny doing some fast ass footwork when the beat is kinda slow.
poetry is a work of expresion, comes in good with style and perfection, with paper and pen you begin to write, the poetic way of non violent fight, poetry is a settled state of mind, concentration in the soul is what your tring to find.

nah i disagree
dancing to the beat makes you a good bboy, but ur still a bboy if u dance or what not
if ken swift hadnt said that, and some random said it i reckon heaps of ppl would be like ''nah thats bullshit''
coz i seen some nice power by ''bboys'' who dont neccesarily keep to the beat
This one time...this hot chick rings me up and says to me in a horny voice, ''Oh baby come over now, no ones home''.... So I went over to her house and no one was home..

You dont have to stay on beat the whole time. You cant mill or airflare on beat the whole time or anything like that it just wont work. Toprock HAS to be on beat though or it just looks ridicules. Thats the difference between bad toprock and good. you can have good moves and do it off beat and it will look bad and you can have bad moves and do it on beat and it will look good. If you do your footwork so it follows the beat and hit your freezes on beat it looks soooooo much better. Otherwise you are just rolling around on the floor and music happens to be playing in the background. thats my 2 cents.

I dont agree, because dancing is expression n if part of that is using the music to urself...then so be it. Some people who are bad wit beats can still do damn good...it just means if ur a power mover ur not a bboy which also isnt true. No offense to ken swift but if im reppin the culture, supportin the scene n im nasty but I dont dance to the beat but i just use the music, i dont care if he thinks im a bboy or not, i beleive i am
Dont bite the hand that feeds u, eventually everyone helping u will get annoyed...jesus.
Beginners giving beginners tips without understanding what they are saying is probally one of the worst ways to spread KNOWLEDGE.....which is the key to anything in life.

well you can keep a beat in your head but nobody else can hear it lol. I practice a lot without music but its not dancing. I never practice toprock without music i just cant do it. I need a beat to stay on or else it just doesnt happen. You cant dance without music it just doesnt work. even if its just a metronome or whatever its called keeping a beat you need something. I think you are only hurting yourself if you try and practice toprock without music cause you will learn to be off beat and when the music plays you will have a harder time staying on it.

Offcourse you can dance without music! Just simply know the rhytm.. It's as simple as 1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8!
If you can't dance to the beat... you are NOT a dancer! With or without music!
More importantly.
Should a Breaker be able to dance! Or are powermoves & freezes enought?

I dont think 99% of people can dance to a beat in there head. You would shape your beat to your dance rather than your dance to the beat. You definitely couldnt learn to dance on beat without music. If you are already a good dancer then you can dance with rythem without music but not the other way around.
If you dance off beat it looks so sloppy. Now nobody can do powermoves on beat and stuff but you can go into the powermove on beat and it looks good. End it on beat and it looks great. If you just walk into a circle do off beat toprock and start flaring thats not dancing. Thats bouncing around and doing tricks with music in the background. If someone can do ill shit but not on beat it doesnt mean they arent a bboy it just means they arent doing it on beat and its sloppy. they should work on getting it on beat! Like starting a powermove on 1 rather than 3 or something like that.
