I think that was a good history lesson from where breaks were spawned. Right on the money too. Breakbeat is an unfortunate term. Strictly speaking, it could be lots of things. IT's like "alternative" music, you know? Basically, a break will usually have a kick on the 1 and 3 while most dance music will have a kick on 1,2,3,4. A lot of that stuff they call "new school breaks" is really just house in disguise. In electronic music, it will have a shuffle high hat, kind of like the sound a horse makes when it gallops. I think some artists that define breaks in electronic music are Sharaz, Infiniti, DJ Fixx, Rick West. These people have been laying it down for years.
