sick of flare/airflare -
09-02-2003, 08:21 PM
firstly im would actually consider myself closer to power than style but goddamn i am getting sick and tired of seeing ppl do flare to airflare then back again, i mean the first time i saw it i probably shat myself, but now when i watch someone do flare airflare i know "well if you wanna go toilet now and not miss anything, the time is now" i'm sure flare airflare is a hard combo to get but there is practically no difference between ppls flare airflare. there is no variation at all,at least put some variation in (do something with your legs, juggle, do it blind folded i dont care just change it up a bit) ne way thats my rant over

no my friend i aint sick of power i could watch power all day, but the thing is that with power you see variations in the moves, like halos, windmills (how many fuckin variations are there) headspins (i saw a video from 98, a japanese guy doing bouncing headspins) and then there is flare airflare, same old same old

i like how moy incorporates his routines with power... straight out power moves isn't dancing.. i guess when u add a few airtracks here and there to the beat while dancing or wutever its aight.. i dunt realli have anything against flare to airflares tho haha u gotta see ppl that does those in person...ooowee

for a style based person to say they hate power ok thats how you feel, i could watch breakers like junior (wanted) and kujo (soul control) till the cows came home, but to see airflares all the time, damn man i know its a hard move to learn but its almost like in their heads they are saying "i have all this other shit under my belt that i could throw out, but as soon as i get flare to airflare i'm not even gonna throw down anything else"

well first off airflares is a great huge acomplishment by itself... although i guess transfering into it from a flare 100% of the time is kinda stupid, i think its jus ppl biting a combo they saw dont worry about it just watch some other bboys who do somethin else...

to tell yall the truth there are a few airtrack/airflare variations
like i seen a guy open and close his legz doin an airtrack/airflare [sick stuff!!] also when you do combos like flare/airflare/coindrop it looks awesome...really any combo 4 that matter could be a variation also i saw flare to airtrack with bent knees...nice form and everything [in other words the guy meant to have his legz bent!] so you see there are variations in flare to airtrack ![]() but i do think that the flare to airtrack variation is becomin to commmon in break videos... |

whenever i see an airflare variation its nice but then i watch another video and there it is the 17th flare to airflare to 90 to airflare to flare to airflare................etc
you know the last time i watched a video/clip which didnt have at least one flare airflare in it was the circus runaways clip and i like moy because he puts lots of different shit into his throw downs also did anyone see uk champs 2002, the kid from vagabonds who did absolutely nothing but airflares in every throwdown, he must have been in 10/12 times and thats all he did, you could see the reaction of the crowd and the ppl on the stage, by the final it was just yawns all round. |

I dont know whats your problem with that combo.....maybe you got a bad day, that shit happens to me, shit pisses me off fo no reason......lol
I personally like when people do power from footwork, the way Moy does his flares......thats the best way to do power |

Sounds like you have a case of "i'm sick of watching this power that i've never actually seen in person"itus.
Anything you see on a video gots boring as hell cuz you watch it OVER AND OVER. No matter how cool it is, it gets half as cool each time you watch the SAME EXACT VIDEO. If you watch somebody flare airflare in person, its like HOLY SHIT, and you wanna press rewind, but you CANT, so its that much better. In person, things are 1000000 times cooler. |

I'm with him all the way.
The flare airflare flare combo is getting more than just a bit tired. But more than this, I'm getting sick of seeing dancers absolutely rocking the floor, dancing out of their skin, you know the kind - gives you shivers. But as soon as someone pulls the flare airflare flare chestnut out of the bag - the whole room goes apeshit. I ain't even talking about uneducated crowds here either. This shit happens in bboy circles too. It's got to the pint now where I'll be in a good-level circle - and I'm almost just waiting for someone to bust the combo first. |
