How many of you guys have sets before a battle of do u just bust out freestyle??

a combination of both. you're going to have 'fallback' sets? like sets which you get used to doing while practicing etc, so that you can always 'fallback' to busting those out. otherwise freestyle cause prior to a battle, you're not going to know what's going to be played. that's my outlook on it at least

I agree. You should freestyle but you do need those "fallback" sets. You never know what's going to happen. Especially when there's multiple rounds. Just think about it like this, whatever the opponent does do something 10 times cleaner, better, faster. Start out slow and keep improving during the battle.
