USA and UK -
11-03-2009, 01:08 PM
Hi,
I'm doing a study and part of it is about the difference (if you think there are any) between the hip hop culture in the UK and that in the USA. Obviously most of the literature i read is about the USA and i want to try to avoid basing everything on my own experiences (which are quite different from the ones i've been reading about) so your input would be really valuable. In a nutshell ... in what ways do you think the hip hop culture in the UK is different from that in USA? Woa, didn't mean that to sound so much like an essay title but you get the idea! Thanks Bonnie |

You might want to go to bboyworld and post that question there. They have bboys that traveled to both places and experienced it and what not. I haven't been to the UK so I can't tell you.

Asking other people for results isn't a study. It's plagiarism.

"heres a tip: i like to make lots of sets. to see what flows, i just think, "Do a random toprock!" so i do that. next i go, "do a footwork!" and i try to flow well into it. next, i think, "do a _____!" and i do that, making sure it flows.
do that for awhile."-Gloves |

I don't look at other dancers as idols, I look at them as opponents.
When I see someone do something dope on the floor, I don't go screaming like a little girl, I try to do something even better. -A guy from bboyworld.com |

The UK doesn't have a proper "style" when it comes to bboying or hip hop. There have been some guys like Skam who have travelled to dance back in 83, but apart from that there hasn't been much of a global contribution if im fairly honest. It's like, we are acknowledged to knowing of hip hop but us as a nation have not properly expelled any contributions
