Gangs and Bboying -
10-22-2009, 08:54 PM
Last weekend i was at a birthday party/ bboy battle. there was no alcohol or anything, everybody was cool, the battles were intense but not overly heated. halfway through the cops come and break up the jam, arresting two people. theysaid it was for 'disorderly conduct' and 'suspected gang activity'
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? since when did breaking get crossed with gangbanging? has anybody else heard of anything like this? and if so how do you clean up a negative image like that |

From seeing the freshest kids, bboying once use to be illegal, not forsure about gang reasons but you could see the police backing everyone off at the bboy summit of '99 I believe.
But that's what happens. As long as there is an activity related to hip hop, there will always be some people who mistaken it for gang activity. |

Hip-Hop Culture in general is incorrectly associated with gang culture. It's a fact of life and the media is simply perpetuating the lie. That's why it's so important to try to educate people about the real motivations and ideals behind Hip-Hop.

dude 'gang activity' is most likely the term they used for like a neighbor reporting loud noises and a gathering of kids lol. i was swimming in my friends pool at like 11pm one night with like 3 people and the cops came claiming 'suspected gang activity'
