Both Ways -
07-14-2009, 12:53 AM
I know this question is somewhat similar to the "two ways to practice thread" but i figured i'd never get the question answered if i asked in there.
I've gotten pretty solid at turtles, and I want to learn all my moves going both directions. So before I start really polishing up my turtles and moving on to crickets I want to know, for those of you who do moves both directions, do you practice both directions from the start of learning one move? Or do you perfect one direction first, and then start working on the other? |

Actually I want to take that vote back lol, usually one way is good enough for me. Maybe when I'm super pro and all I'll spend the time on both ways

after 2 years i just started practicing my moves and steps the other way and some how I ended up with "new" combos. So I guess "perfect one way, than the other."

thanks for the votes folks. ill probably just go ahead and perfect my moves one way until i have a big enough library to work with, then start going the opposite direction.

i want to perfect both sides, but for example, the 2 steps is REALLY hard for me to do it one way, so i do it the other way, and i just stayed like that... though i want to perfect both ways

Don't think, just do it.

youre not the only one. the two step was tough for me to get cw and i still don't have it all the way as clean as i'd like it. but i think footwork is a little different though. footwork isnt as focused on one set of muscles so it's plausible to practice both ways from the start and not kill yourself, but i was moreso referring to practicing power both ways since the moves are harder to learn in the first place.

i think it would be better for creativity to learn both side, so thats what i do, but somethings i don`t practice as much both ways until i perfect one direction liuke mills and airchairs and such, but footwork and basic freezes and transitions definately both ways

imo i work on my opposite way once i hit a stump when i practice
right now im trying to learn to become ambidextrous with freezes and once i got that im gonna work on power. try and learn both ways early....cause going one way gets alittle boring. |
