it works if it fits.
so the question left is... will it fit?
a lot of trucker caps are adjustable... chances are it'll fit. therefore it will work

but yeh, trucker hats for what? controlling your hair? or for headspins or padding?
i hear for head spins its good cuz of the synthetic material its made of, slides well...but i assume the padding isnt as good as a beanie. and as for hair control, it should work like any other cap...then again, i dont have a truckers cap...or long hair.

well you can buy trucker hats online since u can customize the size with the strap thing. you can also buy them at the nearest hip hop store such as workmens balance.

just train your hair so that it always stays the same
thats what i did so i always have a hawk after i take
off my trucker hat lol
